Carrick going is the right decision, obviously. Should never have got the job permanently to begin with. But anyone expecting miracles this season will be waiting a while. So much is wrong with the mentality, mindset, and execution at all levels of the club. Rotten to the core.

Erik ten Hag wants a mobile No 8 who can provide attacking thrust as well as defensive discipline. Mason Mount fits the bill in that regard + is a good age at 24. Much depends on Chelsea fee, however. #MUFC theathletic.com/4549543/2023…

I think I've been clear with this but let me say it again just in case. I like Mount, I think he's a good player. Not great, not amazing, not world class. Good. I don't think he fits us that well tactically but I could be wrong. I think for £55m+5m we could have got better.

Honestly.. no idea how people saw this Mount signing as anything but a sideways step at best. And it’s not on him, it’s just so obvious that we didn’t need him for that role.

#MUFC back-four is an interesting shape. Heaven comes in as left-sided centre-back, alongside Maguire, with Yoro right-back + Dalot left-back. Another configuration would have been Dalot right-back, Yoro centre-back, Heaven left-back.
