Meet Ken Stephens — Veteran, DPC Board Member, and a fierce advocate for the kidney community. 💙 Thanks to his dedicated care team, Ken was able to receive the care and therapies he needed, ultimately leading to a life-changing kidney transplant in 2024. Stories like Ken’s show why reliable, accessible dialysis care is essential for people living with kidney failure and for the families who support them. That’s why DPC is calling on our community to stand behind the Kidney Care Access Protection Act. This bipartisan legislation will protect dialysis access, help struggling clinics stay open, and ensure patients continue receiving the care they depend on. Strengthening kidney care isn’t optional — it’s lifesaving. 🎥 Watch Ken’s story and learn why this legislation matters. youtu.be/miG6nxEa5vc

Meet DPC Patient Ambassador Kendra Deike. Kendra has lived with kidney failure since birth and has now been on dialysis for 36 years—a treatment that is truly life or death. Thanks to private insurance through her career at the U.S. Postal Service, she's been able to access a broader network of specialists to help treat her comorbidities, including some from the Mayo Clinic in a neighboring state that Medicaid alone would not cover. Dialysis patients didn't choose their disease, but they should be able to select the coverage that works best for them. That's why we're urging Congress to pass the Restore Protections for Dialysis Patients Act (S.1173 / H.R.2199)—a bipartisan bill that will ensure patients can keep their private insurance as they begin dialysis and work toward a transplant.

At @SageMemorial Hospital in Ganado on the Navajo Nation they refer to their patients as “relatives” because they are treated like family. Thanks to $3m in the state budget secured by Democrats, more than 50 relatives living with diabetes will soon be helped by a new state-of-the-art dialysis center.
