Some things are just bigger than sports. Former Derry basketball star Stanley Rajkovich has been diagnosed with leukemia. The 6-foot-7 all-state forward transferred to The Kiski School and reclassified to 2028. He had been dealing with intense back pain and, after testing and blood work, the disease was discovered. He is in his third week of chemotherapy treatments and had a blood transfusion. A GoFundMe page (gofund.me/11f3921ef) is up to help with Rajkovich's medical expenses and long road ahead. @stanrajkovich @DASDTrojans1 @KiskiSchoolBB @TribLiveHSSN @TribSports

Another former Saint Vincent Bearcat will play professional basketball. Forward Jaden Gales signed to play for the BC Raiffeisen Flyers Wels of the Austrian Basketball Superliga. The 6-6 Gales will join former teammate Mike Iuzzolino at the next level. Iuzzolino, a guard, signed last week with Club Roma SPQR in Italy. @jadengales04_ @SVCHoops @SVC_Bearcats @TribSports @PAC_Athletics

Former Saint Vincent basketball standout Mike Iuzzolino will play professionally in Italy. He signs with Basketball Club Roma SPQR, a new team that plays in the Lega Basket Serie A league and EuroCup and was co-founded by NBA star Luca Doncic. Iuzzolino's father, Mike, also played in Italy after a short stint with the Dallas Mavericks in the early 1990s. The elder Iuzzolino is the boys basketball coach at Sewickley Academy. @Mike_Izzy5 @SVCHoops @SVC_Bearcats
