Combinable crops finished 1/8. Straw took a beating due to heat and balers struggled - not even contemplating a joker with these ground conditions. Stubble rake on hire sorting out residue pre Maize and Sugar beet. DD cover crop soon as sufficient moisture is around..

Winter grazing commences on forage rape and cover crops. Wheat establishment has been very pleasing.

Done. No combining maize until Christmas and wet weather drills. What a relief.

Concluded 11/8. Not our earliest, 2018 still holds that crown - 10/8. But this one leaves a more bitter taste. Onwards and upwards.

After a new moisture meter for weigh bridge. Currently use a Dickey John GAC500 and seems to give issues every season. Recommendations?

Topdown and cover crop in August, 12.5mm Tuesday night and pulled down with spring tine. Tucking into plenty of moisture. Love it when a plan comes together

Spring barley going thorough it’s ugly stage on heavy land, 8.75mm since end of Feb here. Alleged 10mm coming tonight but will believe it when it comes. Manganese going on ready to set eyes on maize planting, soil temps only stabilising around 10 degrees the past 2/3 days.

Average wheat and strong blackgrass out, spring barley in. Troublesome field, never have regretted making these decisions.

Aftermath of another crap autumn, don’t like spring cults at depth but conditions amazing all being considered. Sorting out ex grain maize land (that was due for forage until September and October rains.
