Earlier today, Mr @ibsanusi - Head of Project, Strengthening Crisis and Pandemic Response in Africa - @GIZAfricanUnion had the privilege of speaking at the opening of the Co-Creation Workshop for the Africa Youth in Digital Health Network. Hosted by the @AfricaCDC and supported by the @GIZAfricanUnion-implemented project on Strengthening Crisis and Pandemic Response in Africa (SCPRA), the workshop has brought together brilliant young minds, political leaders, policymakers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers passionate about leveraging technology to improve healthcare across the continent. -------------------------------------------------------- Excerpts from Opening Remarks by @ibsanusi - @GIZAfricanUnion "I strongly believe that young people are essential to Africa's digital revolution. They possess a unique combination of technological fluency, a deep understanding of generational challenges, and a natural inclination towards innovation, which is especially critical within the digital health landscape. Despite recent progress in healthcare access, universal health coverage, and improved service quality, Africa's health sector still requires immense transformation. The impact of existing solutions, many led by young people, falls short of the continent's vast needs. That's why the Africa Youth in Digital Health Network (YIDHN) is envisioned as a community of practice. It aims to amplify youth voices in the digital health ecosystem, promote youth-led innovation, and bridge the gap between young leaders and established organizations. By engaging with the broader African Digital Health Network (ADHN), the YIDHN will contribute to enhanced innovation capacity, transformative policymaking and implementation, and improved collaboration and support for young innovators. I am excited about the conversations and outcomes of this co-creation workshop. GIZ remains committed to supporting youth-led digital health initiatives by providing necessary tools, resources, and networking opportunities.
