a visual proof that the volume and surface area of a torus is the same as a cylinder (with radius r and height 2πR). Each swivel does not change the volume or surface area
A very interesting article about some current stressors during our current educational model... medium.com/@jamestanton/covi…
Here are 4 great simulations that can help students understand exponential growth... the last one should help with why social distancing is so important. washingtonpost.com/graphics/…

OK, hoping this new page/link for the K-8 remote lessons is better. I now have 2 weeks done.

Today we are being inspired by Peter and the “thinking classroom”... how are we keeping students in flow?
Just working with a teacher on visualizing PI... why not apply tape on round objects and have the students “see” the constant... have fun👍🏻
Grades 5-9 teachers visualizing some interesting combinations using fraction circles... nice support for adding👍🏻

The math nerd in me marvels at the way God designed our universe. Happy #FibonacciDay
Just completed a great intro session with HS teachers in a dynamic based system... Varafy. Very impressed with how intuitive the system is. The image shows iterations by simply clicking the little blue button👍🏻 great options for visuals here! #LSI_on_learning @@GetVarafy
Working through fractions with James Tanton... great question he challenged us with. We hear much about Nix-the-Tricks, but maybe that is where some deep questions lie?!😊 #LSI_on_Learning

Some State/Province/Country standards require students to know that pi is irrational. What does "know" mean here? Have you ever wrapped a string around a lid 7 times? As far as the eye can tell, it equals 22 times the diameter of the lid. Seriously, try it!
Working with an interesting image at the annual MCATA conference. Can we use our understanding of right triangles to determine the 1/2chord AB? Great way to bridge our G9 circle geometry into G10 trig👍🏻 #LSI_on_learning
Working with students to visualize the classic tangram during Read In week here at ECSD... if you have not had a chance to become familiar with this book 👍🏻👍🏻 #LSI_on_Learning
Having a great time reading selected chapters to ECSD students for the start of reading week. Students for the first block had a chance to contextualize the 4-fours problem from chapter 7. #LSI_on_Learning

thinking about this, I was reminded of this gif where each ball travels in a straight line but the system wide effect is wonderful
Math teachers were considering the difference between the words assessment and evaluation during our first DWPD event... some interesting questions we did consider😊 #ECSDfaithinspires @LSI_on_Learning
This afternoon we had a great community of mathletes competing for our new trophy ... firstly, a BIG thanks to the St Joesph welding department for this great piece of hardware! ... secondly, CONGRATS to the Oscar Romero mathletes as they took home the prize👍🏻
This is an interesting idea and has given me much 🤔... but then again I am a little biased on leveraging visuals 😜 forbes.com/sites/davidnour/2…
