This tragic story just gets worse the more you learn about it — and Republicans are fully to blame.
The girl in question was raped by a stranger and impregnated in 2022. Due to Mississippi's ultra-conservative abortion laws, she was forced to carry the traumatic pregnancy to term.
Neighboring states are equally restrictive about abortion and the city of Chicago was the closest option. Unfortunately, the nine hour drive was impossible for the girl and her mother because they did not have the funds for it.
The girl has not even begun seventh grade yet.
Heartbreaking stories like this are happening more and more frequently, all because the Republican-controlled Supreme Court repealed Roe v. Wade. Donald Trump and his vile associates are fully to blame.
Fundamentalist Christians want to control women's bodies and they won't stop until abortion is outlawed federally. We cannot give an inch of ground to these monsters.
