The Modi Govt has approved yet another sale of yet another Public Sector Unit.
The @IDBI_Bank is all set to be sold to a Canadian Company called The Fairfax Holding.
The #IDBIBank was started as a wholly owned subsidiary of RBI in the year 1964 by the then Govt of India.
#IDBI became a commercial banking institution, while remaining a PSU, in 2004.
Today the IDBI boasts of a balance sheet of Rs. 4.11 lakh crores, with 2100+ branches and 3000 ATMs.
For the financial year 2025-26 it registered an annual net standalone profit of Rs. 9,513 Crores
This was a 27% surge in the profit over the previous year.
The Market Cap of this bank fluctuates between 85,000 crores to 86,000 crores.
The bank is valued at Rs. 79.88 per share.
This bank was built on the people's money, was meant to work for the people, operated by the people.
And now, the Modi Govt is selling off this bank to a private institution.
A share valued at Rs. 79.88 is being sold off at a mere Rs. 81.
Anyone who knows anything about share valuation based on past and projected growth would agree that this is literally a throw away price.
And all this is being done to benefit a private entity.

Disclaimer: A Bank which was built on your money, was being run by you, was making money for you, is being sold to a private company and the money from the sale will be pocketed by the Govt which you will never see coming back to you in any form of benefit.

Modi ji once called himself the nation's chowkidar. Now his govt is taking the chowkidar off Rs 3.56 lakh crore of your money.
The Modi govt has approved handing control of IDBI Bank to the Fairfax group. Once the deal closes, the govt's own directors walk off the board, and by DIPAM's own written answers to bidders, the vigilance watchdog will have no say in the bank.
No govt director and no vigilance watchdog. Not one govt chowkidar left inside the bank.
This is not reform. The Modi govt is clearing the room so the govt's own watchman no longer stands over the people's money. Once that happens, there is no accountability for where the money goes.
