I used to be on the left but then I grew up, gained life experience, studied, and learned how the world works. Now I’m far left.

What’s a polite way to tell someone, “I’m not discussing this with you because your entire understanding of the subject is built on so many interconnected misconceptions that correcting them would require uninstalling your current worldview and starting the tutorial from birth”?

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

1/2 I did my part. This is the most eloquent I’ve ever been in my entire life! Hope he at least reads it. I tried my best to be as polite and understanding as possible. This is the only way we can make EA change their minds. We will hold the line! #SaveMassEffect

If there's one thing the closure of @bioware has taught me, it's that the majority of racists are straight, white males from low income brackets with low educations who are pissed off because they couldn't win a race that was literally rigged in their favor from being born straight, white males. And if they don't have somebody to blame, eventually they'd have to admit that the person responsible for most of their problems stares back at them in the mirror every morning. But they'll spend more time obsessing over immigrants, blacks, gays, and DEI "agendas" than they ever have trying to improve their own lives. An immigrant didn't blow your paycheck at the bar. A gay couple didn't get your truck repoed. A trans kid didn't make you drop out of high school, lose your job, and get divorced. A black family didn't keep you from learning a trade, showing up to work, or acting like a decent human being. YOU did that. All by yourself. So when you're standing there screaming that everybody else is getting special treatment, maybe ask yourself why you're getting lapped by people who had to climb over fences that you never even saw. Racism isn't strength. It's what insecure people wrap themselves in when they don't have accomplishments to brag about. Homophobia isn't toughness. It's fear wearing work boots. And all that DEI whining is just you saying "I'm too scared to compete" when everyone else finally gets their fair shot. The hard truth is that if your identity depends upon somebody else staying beneath you, you never stood very tall in the first place. Quit blaming minorities for your misery. Quit blaming LGBTQ+ folks because your life's a train wreck. Quit looking for scapegoats and just grab a mirror. Because that reflection has cost you more opportunities than every immigrant, every pride parade, every DEI program, and every person of color combined.

It’s the small things in life…

Im so glad that even with the squalid endless cacophony from the insipid members of nearly every fandom there are still a few people worth discussing things with and learning from each other even in disagreement.

In closing to quote a WoW player I once followed "I do not support all gamer's, some of you bitches are very dumb!!!" Peace.

Post Script: @KyleMichel2 Fuck off. Then keep fucking off. Keep fucking off until you come up to a gate made of replica Masamune's and black materia with a sign saying 'You Can't Fuck Off Past Here.' Climb over the gate, dream the impossible dream, and keep fucking off forever.

All these people making content or replying on Twitter make their disagreement and distaste of something into a virtual grudge fuck they do out of hatred & spite. It is absolutely mind blowing.

You can't engage in discussion or discourse on any level with the majority of people because it becomes a vapid bloodbath of regurgitated echo-chamber group think where differing opinions are to not just be disagreed with but hunted & killed for sport.

And out of all those things I love, over my 50 years alive, I have never said "You know Asimovs Foundation trilogy had a profound deep impact on my identity as a person living on this earth."

Its absolutely unbelievable to me the amount of parasocial attachment people have to a game, a console, or a character and how they warp simple enjoyment & fandom into a lynch pin of their entire existence...

Again, im 50 and I don't have my finger on the pulse of gaming circles. Ive seen my share of toxic people in gaming but I was 100% naïve to just how toxic and tribal gaming culture was OVERALL until I started seeing this ruckus over a remake of a game

And it really pissed me the fuck off that he decided to double down on harmful stereotypes about "war veterans" all being crazy and imply they were irrational, insecure, and out of touch with reality rather that answer a simple fucking question

It stuck a nerve that an apparent fully functional adult was unable to formulate any kind of reply that didnt devolve into an ad hominem or an attack on my completely irrelevant to the discussion military career and/or mental health...

...It would annoy me enough to write a fucking novel on Twitter. What did strike a nerve was his inability to articulate any kind of rational though as a response to being honestly questioned on how the game impacted him on that deep of a level that it became a part of him.

So when I kept asking @KyleMichel2 to articulate how a PS1 JRPG was so utterly life changing to him that he said it shaped his identity and his answer was
