One thing that I was very, very grateful for on Sunday was that, while I was sitting inside Anfield—when I thought we were going to win, when the odds were stacked against us after the red card, and then, clearly, after the emphatic defeat—each and every time I looked at the Manchester City supporters, I thought, “Thank God we’re not them.”
There have been moments in the past twenty years when I thought I’d never see Liverpool win the league, and there have been moments when I’ve wished for rich owners like the Manchester City owners. But my God, I’m glad that never happened. I’m glad we’re us, and I’m glad we’re not them. That’s our golden sky this week.

The more you read about Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the more you realise he can’t carry on as City chairman if PL is to maintain integrity
Wholly unsurprising that he tried this - and yet still shocking that he did - via @FT
This is why nation states can’t own football clubs

It’s a good job Man City have always claimed they aren’t state owned then isn’t it? And if they aren’t state owned, why would there be a risk of state vengeance for something that is merely a private man’s hobby? 😃😃😃😃
In 2021, the UK and UAE launched a sovereign investment partnership, with Mubadala the lead investor. The agreement has generated £30bn in investment commitments from the UAE into Britain, overseen by #ManCity chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

Bill Shankly died 45 years ago today. If ever a man shaped the heart and soul of a football club it was Shanks. #YNWA

Today marks 45 years since my granddad passed away. To the world, he was a football legend.
To me, he was my grandy.
His legacy was about more than football. It was about people, community, believing something could be better — and having the courage to try to make it happen.
And he never forgot where he came from. Glenbuck was always part of him.
Forty-five years later, that connection is still very much there.
Legacy isn't what we leave behind.
It's what others choose to carry forward.
I hope we can continue to carry a little of his legacy forward.
Forever remembered. Forever loved. Forever in my thoughts. 📷
