Andy Burnham must be allowed to be himself.
Not filtered by advisors and not controlled by Westminsterās professional handlers.
The public will judge the man, not the script.

This is great news: the Government is investing in UK AI sovereignty, whilst also shoring up our defences against the safety and security threats from AI.
This includes millions of pounds for investments in biosecurity, cybersecurity, UK industrial AI, R&D, mayoral AI partnerships, the AI economics institute, and chip design capability.
The UK needs AI to be safe, but to do that we need world-leading research and sovereign capabilities, and both require investment. That is exactly what this Government is doing and I strongly welcome it.
As @KanishkaNarayan says, the key tests are: āis it safe?ā and āis it ours to shapeā?
1/7 I have two simple tests for British AI, driven by our values. Is it safe? And is it ours to shape? š¬š§
Today, Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP is announcing a major, ambitious package of investment to strengthen Britain's defences against emerging threats, back British innovation, and build our technological independence.

The right decision for energy security, workers, tax revenue - and for the environment, too.
Offshoring emissions may feel good but solves nothing. For now, the choice is importing higher-emission gas from abroad, or using our own cleaner supply and backing British industry.

The Beatles are coming home! š¶
This project has been months in the making, working behind the scenes with Apple Corps to develop a brand new Beatles experience in our city centre.
This will be a world-class destination befitting of the worldās greatest musical legacy. šø
This is the right decision for the country by Labour in government. Energy security requires a diversified energy mix, and fossil fuels arenāt going away any time soon. It makes no sense to close down an industry we rely on, to rely on energy imports which we canāt guarantee. This is good for workers, for skills, businesses and communities. Yes we do and we must take the climate shocks we are living with seriously and move to cleaner fuels, whilst also protecting UK resilience now and for the future, and this decision does that.
"We are behind you and that will not change," @andyburnham has told Volodymyr Zelensky

I welcome Liverpool City Councilās decision to extend Article 4 controls to areas including County, Walton, Orrell Park and parts of Fazakerley.
This means landlords will need planning permission to convert family homes into HMOs, giving the Council greater oversight of these changes and residents a chance to have their say.
Credit to the residents, campaigners and local councillors who fought for this. Iām proud to have supported their efforts.
Itās an important step forward, but more needs to be done to stop landlords putting profit before our communities.

The Liverpool City Regionās economy has grown faster than the national average. š
@MetroMayorSteve spoke to @LivEchonews about how our region is driving growth and building a stronger local economy.

After a morning out hearing residentsā views, I joined a community litter pick in Norris Green Park, organised as part of the #PrideInPlace programme.
It was great to see people coming together to look after the local area and help shape the future of Norris Green.

I welcome this from @jreynoldsMP. We must not destroy our domestic industry by importing cheap Chinese vehicles, and I look forward to seeing speedy action from the Government to address this.
EXCLUSIVE from @conky_k
Labour will lose the support of āworking-class peopleā if it pursues net zero at the expense of British jobs and industry, the business secretary has warned
In an interview with The Times, Jonathan Reynolds said Britain must not meet its climate change targets by importing cheap Chinese electric vehicles to the cost of domestic car manufacturers
His comments are the strongest signal yet that the government will relax planned targets on the sale of electric cars in the UK to give more time for domestic manufacturers to catch up with their Chinese competitors
āThe destination is clear; itās electric. How you get there in a way that guarantees the future of production, industry and jobs in the UK, I think thatās what matters
āFundamental to success on climate is retaining the support of the British public, particularly working-class people. If people felt that we were meeting targets by simply importing products rather than making them ourselves, that would undermine the whole premise of climate [change action].ā

It was great to be out recently with Walton councillors Sam East and Beverley Kenyon, and Fazakerley North councillor Declan Henry.
We were highlighting action on local priorities such as street cleaning, improvements to play areas and tackling the proliferation of HMOs.
I welcome the Governmentās decision to scrap previous plans to curb jury trials. The right to trial by jury is an ancient foundation of liberty in this country, and it is worth defending.
I congratulate @KarlTurnerMP on his brave campaign (which I was pleased to support) to protect this right, for which he deserves great credit.
šØ NEW: Andy Burnham has officially scrapped Keir Starmerās plans to limit the use of jury trials
[@Independent]
I recently met with James and Deborah at the University of Liverpool Law Clinic to discuss the the Government's plans for schools and special educational needs and disabilities, and thank them for all the help they offer my constituents.
Out campaigning in County ward with local councillor Bernard Packenham.
No surprise to find so much support for @andyburnham around Goodison!
The boldest, most courageous political speech by a Labour leader in a generation by @andyburnham.
Clear vision, political philosophy and a theory of economic growth. Policies for real change from water to a national care service to electoral reform.
And above all of that, his commitment to give strong leadership for Britain.
I joined @CWUnews members at Labour Conference to stand with BT workers fighting to keep their jobs in Liverpool.
Liverpool needs good jobs and skilled workers. BT must work with the CWU to keep these jobs in our city.
The Union Learning Fund was a Labour innovation that opened up opportunities for workers to develop new skills and progress in their careers.
I'm pleased to see the Chancellor bring it back today.
We need to make sure workers are equipped to adapt to a changing economy. Trade unions are uniquely placed to help make that happen.
