Practical steps when you discover a misfill: 1. Seek medical help if you took or used the med, 2. File a formal complaint with the NV State Board of Pharmacy; they WILL investigate 3. Pope Leo XIV has said his doctors have found “a localized nodule” in his lung and will operate in a few days.
Speaking at the Angelus on Sunday, he said the nodule was “detected at a very early stage and is well localized.”
The Pope added that his doctors recommend surgery and that he will follow their advice, with the surgery scheduled for the coming days.
Pope Leo thanked everyone for their spiritual closeness and entrusted himself to our prayers.
“Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, doctors found a localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well localized. Yes, the American Board of Anesthesiology also has a prohibition against its diplomats participating in lethal injection. They state they will revoke board certification of anyone who participates. I suspect the prohibition would not withstand a legal challenge because lethal injection is legal, at least in some states. It would be analogous to revoking certification for physicians who disagree with the ABA board members on some political issue. There’s an argument that physician participation would make it more humane. Although I’m opposed to capital punishment, I acknowledge that reasonable people can disagree.

Ugh, the botched execution of Christa Pike is horrific on multiple levels. I’m old enough to remember when another barbiturate, sodium thiopental, was the induction agent of choice for general anesthesia. It could cause severe tissue necrosis when it leaked outside the vein. Many of the barbiturates, including pentobarbital, cause tissue necrosis when there is extravasation from the vein into the subcutaneous tissues.
