There's a distinct fervent bitterness among the urban intellectual/academic/activist types of Chicago that is only found there. You go to the city to grab a cocktail and try to have a pleasant conversation with them and it's such a negative interaction, like there's a deep anger about another person expressing joy and happiness even while out. It's the despair of a group that has made themselves irrelevant by way of actually having their policies and beliefs drive out capital and intellectually honest forms of art and culture from the city, and therefore, they have nothing to be a critic about.

I appreciate Axios' effort to support building newsrooms outside of NYC/SF/LA, but it looks bad when their name is attached to this kind of petty, small town pissy reporter writing. "I wanted to write about the departure of a local writer I hate, and he declined to comment on my piece, so I included that too!". You leftists can't stop cannibalizing the great city of Chicago can you? There's no intellectual thought left in that city, just a bunch of nonprofit foundation "journalists", you guys won--there's no dissenting opinion left in town-so why aren't you happy?

New: Former Trib columnist @John_Kass is ending his news site due to health problems.
When reached for comment, Kass refused, instead saying "I'll talk to @DanProft" instead.

My career wouldn't have been the same without Don Cooper. Coop was one of a kind and taught me so much about pitchers, pitching, and their mindset. Always a close friend to my kids and family. Thank you for everything, Coop. My deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace.
The White Sox send our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Don Cooper, who has passed away at 70.
Don Cooper spent 33 seasons as a coach in the White Sox organization from 1988-2020, including 18 full seasons as the major-league pitching coach. Cooper served as the pitching coach for the 2005 World Series champion club, which became the first team since the 1928 Yankees to toss four consecutive complete games in a single postseason.
Forever in our thoughts.

I still like @DanProft's idea of a JB Jelly Belly Pritzker @GovPritzker @JBPritzker and Jasmine Rocket Scientist Crockett @RepJasmine ticket of Tubbs/Crockett 2028.
The ticket nobody asked for, but blue cities and states deserve!

Every governor in every state should say yes to this opportunity.

Chicago’s crowded mayoral field continued to grow this week with the entry of former Blagojevich administration general counsel Bill Quinlan, even as @DanProft highlighted another candidate offering what she describes as an alternative to the city’s political establishment. Danielle Carter-Walters (@Dannic44), co-founder of Chicago Flips Red and a candidate in the February mayoral primary, said she is tired of Democratic officials blaming President Trump for problems she views as rooted entirely in local policy failures.

Can you imagine a situation where Illinois state politicians can spend other people’s money to hire their union friends to build themselves a nicer work facility?
They’re going to spend like teenage Saudis. There’s probably a 100% Bullshit Tax in that $350M price tag
