25.000 MILLONES DE DÓLARES DE SANCIÓN.
La Justicia de Nuevo México, Estados Unidos, ordenó el 21 de octubre a Meta, propietaria de Facebook, Instagram y WhatsApp, pagar una sanción multimillonaria por engañar sistemáticamente a los usuarios sobre la protección de sus datos personales.
🔴 LOS HECHOS COMPROBADOS:
▪️ Un jurado determinó que Meta cometió más de 43 millones de infracciones a las leyes de protección del consumidor.
▪️ El caso surgió del escándalo de Cambridge Analytica, que obtuvo información de hasta 87 millones de perfiles de Facebook.
▪️ Esos datos fueron utilizados para elaborar publicidad política dirigida a segmentos específicos del electorado durante la campaña presidencial de Donald Trump en 2016.
▪️ La sentencia señaló que la empresa hizo promesas falsas sobre la privacidad y el control de los datos personales.

Que las plataformas digitales pueden convertirse en instrumentos de manipulación política cuando los datos personales se utilizan para influir sobre millones de ciudadanos.

During the five-week trial, federal prosecutors laid out evidence demonstrating how the brothers exploited their immense wealth, high social status, and Israeli-American background ties to lure women to luxury properties—including estates in the Hamptons and international locations such as Tel Aviv—before drugging and violently assaulting them while incapacitated.
While Tal and Oren operated elite luxury real estate brokerages, their twin brother Alon worked as an executive at their family’s security firm, utilizing their network to shield their predatory conduct.
Judge Caproni firmly rejected the defendants' late assertions of innocence and unconvincing appeals for mercy, describing their actions as "monstrous" and likening them to "sadistic, misogynistic sexual predators."
The landmark sentencing marks a dramatic downfall for the brothers, who maintained their defiant stance even as victims confronted them directly in court. Federal prosecutors had pushed for life sentences, citing the profound psychological trauma inflicted upon more than 70 victims who came forward to investigators.
