Hi, I'm Dan & I live in Chicago :-) I'm a friendly person who loves martial arts, animals, and stories. My old (small) profile pic was over ten years old.

I went to my first book club today. It wasn't planned, and I didn't even know that it was happening; it just came up. I hadn't read it (nor can I remember the title), but it was about people having relationships with rivers, in which rivers were treated as sentient beings.

The thing about The Omega Compound... and about FemDom Gala, also... that I've been trying to wrap my head around... is how to say, just how much these have made my life better. Maybe my difficulty in doing this, has to do with feeling like I do- loving something, so much.

Laying out mats is an important part of our JuJutsu club. There's a certain way that it is done. How many we need depends on how many ppl are there. Yesterday I got frustrated setting up mats, because I thought I wasn't doing it correctly. But I was doing it right, all along.

JuJutsu: did very well on "ippon seoinage"- threw someone over my shoulder. Did okay with an "ogoshi" throw- throwing someone over hip. Need work on this. We also practiced strangulation, called "hadaka-jime" (my throat was a little sore, after it was done hard to me) 😊😊

Getting ready for martial arts has become a ritual, for me. Things I do from the day or two before class, up to the time just before class starts, have themselves become things I look forward to. To me, they are a sign of respect- to the art, and to those with whom I train.

Yum-yum, munching on lots of fresh fruit, and stocked up on protein bars, in preparation for JuJutsu club tomorrow! Also am re-reading the beginning of "Das Kapital." I can grasp its concepts, but this is not going to be the last time that I'll have to re-read it...

"Spring cleaning" today. Except it is getting-the-house-ready-to-hunker-down-for-the-winter, cleaning...

A book I always liked (even though I haven't read all of it) is "Ender's Game." If you've read it, please leave me a comment. Spoilers welcome!

I've always been curious about the RPG "Autoduel." Have played GURPS/Ninjas and Superspies, but not this one.

Jujutsu club went pretty well today. We started with four people, all with at least an advanced white belt level (white belt + 1 yr experience), and we knew each other. This happened during the women's self-defense class, which we sometimes use for our Jujutsu training.

Getting back into things, after my flight back, has been mostly gradual. First two days: lotsa activity, then a steep & steady dropoff. Bags unpacked, laundry done. The rest of the time was like a game of whack-a-mole, fine-tuning the tasks that came up here or there.

Hmm, pumpkin pulp and green peppers, with lentils? I haven't been able to remember the Indian lentil dish I used to cook. But I think that, with some black pepper, sweet potato, and orange slices, this could turn out all right.

There's something I like, about the word " frickin' " ... I just find it kind of satisfying, to say it 😁

I'm looking for a good recipe for rolled chicken parmesan (not the regular chicken parm). The rolled kind is chicken breast with melted cheese on them, all wrapped in thin slices of ham. Any leads, please drop me a line.

The process of waiting (for the Gala) isn't easy, but it is a good thing to experience. I'm looking forward to the ride to the airport: it's a small part of the overall trip, time-wise, but when you think about it- it's a whole hour to kick back with someone and just chat.
