It's alive!!! 🤖
Early testing of the budget build has gone well, with promising results 🎉 As such, we have expanded to include some more GPUs for testing.
Total build cost:
RTX 3090Ti (24GB) - £1149
RX 7900 XTX (24GB) - £1009
RTX 2070 super (8GB) - £484
NucBox G5 - £145.95
Early tests with tuning showing power reductions of around 33%, while getting token speeds anywhere from 50-200 tk/s depending on the model.
This is using a range of models, mainly the Dense/MOE Qwen-3.6 & Gemma-4 models.

This is so brain-dead and indicative of the mainstream political class and their lack of basic understanding.
Let's cancel a partnership because of the cleanest energy source available, to partner with those still using the dirtiest energy source.
Green washing at its finest.
Berlin-based search engine Ecosia, used by government services, is dropping its French AI partner, Mistral, its CEO told POLITICO.
The company will now bet on open-source models, including those from China.

I'm not sure what's worse, this, or politicians who turn off replies.
Either way it would appear that public discourse only exists amongst the people, and not with the entities that are meant to govern us.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

Tell your boss that I gave you the rest of the week off so you can explore this amazing interactive map showing the road network of the Roman Empire. This is so much fun to explore you can compare the Ancient and Modern road network for example. Great stuff. Your boss will understand... Source: itiner-e.org

Can you recreate a 3D wind turbine from public satellite imagery?
I've been experimenting with detecting turbine rotation from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. It works by exploiting the time difference between each spectral band captured during a single pass. When stitched together this creates an animation long enough to see the turbine rotating.
That got me wondering; could I go further and recreate a full 3D model from the same imagery?
And it turns out, yes!
The semi-automated approach I've come up with allows for reconstructing not only the tower, nacelle and rotor orientation, but also the blade rotation as well.
It uses the geometry of the satellite image and known constraints about turbine design to fit a 3D model to the view, including the nacelle yaw angle.
I've tested it on many turbines across different dates, and the results seem accurate. I can't be 100% certain from imagery alone, but visible shadows and other clues make it possible to sanity-check whether the model is a reasonable match.
So far the results are very promising and I'm excited to see what else I can use it for…
I've been doing a lot of testing with GPT Astra VS Sol across all effort levels, and there is a clear winner IMO 👑
More testing to come, but you can check out the simulator results for yourself to see the differences! 🪐
Links below, give it a try!👇

Will be testing more, but try out the interactive gravity simulator for yourself to see the differences!
Will be adding Fable tomorrow, and comparing token use 💰

I put Astra and Sol head to head to build an interactive gravity simulation in one HTML file.
Same prompt for both, tested across multiple effort levels.
Astra has blown Sol away and on High effort it really shows!

Same prompt, same effort, same harness: Yet a big difference in quality IMO.
Astra read between the lines more to align with my preferences more, which was good to see. 👏
