My PyCon 2026 talk, "How to Write a Great Command Line Application" is now up on YouTube.
There were some A/V glitches with the slides. They seem to have edited out some of the fumbling with it, but all the slides are on github.com/drcraig/how-to-wr…

I’m looking for the link to something I read once about how reliability is a measurement not a design. I can’t recall where I saw that, but sounds like something @mipsytipsy would say or quote.

At 10:43 PM Pacific time today, the W-6 vehicle executed its final deorbit maneuver and reentered the atmosphere at hypersonic speeds for its roughly 20-minute descent. We are excited to announce that our sixth mission is officially home. Great catch @SouthernLaunch. Expect photos soon.
Enjoyed presenting “How To Write a Great Command Line Application” at @pycon about good patterns for using argparse. Projector was a little glitchy, but I think I got my points across. Looking forward to see the video when it comes out.
It's not rocket science, but command line interfaces matter. I'm looking forward to presenting "How to Write a Great Command Line Application" at #pycon on Friday, 12:30p.

Everything she says is a lie, so seems like confirmation to me.
Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs under the Department of Homeland Security, is denying reports from several outlets, including NewsNation, Reuters and the Washington Examiner, that Gregory K. Bovino has been removed from his position as “Commander-at-Large” of the United States Border Patrol (USBP).
Are the only people being propagandized to to gin up war with Venezuela those in the right wing echo chamber?
100%. Through all the hyperventilating about AI safety we’ve had to listen to the least few years, what concerns me most is that people will shirk responsibility for what their computers do.
Love this post from @simonw

Long ago when I worked at Curata, we were looking into migrating to then-brand new AWS from our own physical servers. One day, there was a major EBS outage, and we congratulated ourselves for self hosting. Then a disk of ours failed that same day.
Docker builds failing with a 401 because I have a syntax comment in my Dockerfile

TIL about CSS font-variant-numeric tabular-nums. The wannabe typographer in me is so relieved that I can make the numbers line up. Only ten years after most browsers added support!

Lots of Ws for Varda Space of late.

I don’t understand the NIMBY opposition to this. No moving parts, no emissions, no light or noise, little traffic impact due to minimal staffing need. If you care about climate change, you should want these throughout cities, where the solar producers and electric consumers are.

Your are part of that generation by supporting Donald Trump. Ronald Reagan would be ashamed.
President Ronald Reagan said that “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
For 248 years, our stars & stripes have represented our nation’s values we hold dear. On #FlagDay, we remember it's up to each of us to protect our flag for future generations. 🇺🇸
