One paragraph from C. S. Lewis can change your life

I have absolutely no interest in magick, alchemy, esotericism, or any of the other things Iโve spent most of my life studying and practicing. I donโt care about rituals, initiations, secret teachings, spiritual hierarchies, or collecting mystical experiences. I spent decades immersed in these things, and I understand their value. But they were never meant to become permanent occupations or identities. They were tools intended to accomplish something. The problem is that people become so attached to the tools that they forget what they were trying to accomplish in the first place. They build an entire identity around being a magician, an alchemist, or an initiate, and then spend the rest of their lives defending and reinforcing that identity. The very thing that was supposed to free them from the ego becomes another way of keeping it alive.
The purpose of the Great Work is not to become a better magician or a more accomplished alchemist. It is to become free. Free even from the need to practice magick or alchemy. At some point, you have to stop preparing to live life and actually live. It. I want to practice my sword, drink my tea, spend time with my wife, and give my complete attention to whatever Iโm doing. I have no desire to escape the world, transcend the material plane, or become something other than what I am. I spent years trying to reach something beyond ordinary life, only to discover that ordinary life was what Iโd been looking for all along. If your spiritual practice never allows you to put it down, you havenโt found freedom. Youโve just built yourself another prison.

I miss when Saturday mornings felt endless.
Sun coming through the curtains. Cartoons playing somewhere in the house. Someone cleaning with the radio on. No plans you needed to know about because the adults handled that part.
You just existed. What a luxury that was.

Replying to @SketchesbyBoze
When I eventually get my book published, a TV option would pay the bills, but what I'm actually after is an unhinged million word AO3 fanfic spin off! It's the ultimate compliment as an artist

Most of what you call talent is just the result of obsession. the kid who gets praised for drawing well isnt some innate genius, he just locked onto something early and spent every waking moment doing it. same with the prodigy mathematician or the teen piano hero, they just got captured by something and never stopped chasing it. so the big lie is about distribution, talent not being spread equally, when really its mostly just a question of how long youre willing to be obsessed with something, because thats all practice is right. its an obsession that youve chosen to point at something productive. i think this is why we resist the idea of obsession driving success, because it feels like madness, and who wants to admit were not ruled by reason but rather by whatever idea or skill happens to haunt us early enough to lock us into its orbit.

I spent most of my twenties envying people with lighter lives, that was my word for it, lighter, no family drama, no bad memories, no weight on their backs. i couldn't understand why God gave me so much to carry and gave them what looked like nothing. it took me until about thirty to realize that nothing is what they got, that wasn't a lighter life, that was an empty one. and by then it was too late for most of them, they were too pleasant, too smooth, too agreeable in that specific way that makes you realize nobody is actually home. and i won't pretend my weight was worthwhile at the time, it wasn't, it was miserable, but it seems to have left me with something, and i couldn't tell you what it is, except that they don't have it

This is what children lose when they grow up without myths and fairy-tales.
C.S. Lewis, a special kind of longing

ALT In a sense a child does not long for fairy land as a boy longs to be the hero of the first eleven. Does anyone suppose that he really and prosaically longs for all the dangers and discomforts of a fairy tale?โreally wants dragons in contemporary England? It is not so. It would be much truer to say that fairy land arouses a longing for he knows not what. It stirs and troubles him (to his life-long enrichment) with the dim sense of something beyond his reach and, far from dulling or emptying the actual world, gives it a new dimension of depth. He does not despise real woods because he has read of enchanted woods: the reading makes all real woods a little enchanted. This is a special kind of longing.

quantum physics is crazy because what do you mean every possible outcome of every choice you make actually happens.. it just splits into a parallel timeline. and the one you end up in is the one you already EXPECT to land in.
which means if you want to quantum leap, you don't force an outcome. you change what you expect.

Humans can only see ~0.0035% of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Yet many people are convinced that what they can perceive with their eyes represents the totality of reality.
Weโre effectively blind to 99.9965% of the electromagnetic universe.
Something to think about.
