Itauma won every single round and had the rounds won within a minute but still kept punching through the target putting everything into his punches chasing the knockout. Can’t believe nobody told him in his corner to stop that. Hrgovic didn’t win the fight, Itauma lost the fight

Say what you want about Bolton but their catfishing recruitment policy in the early 00s was one of the greatest strategies football has ever seen

I genuinely can’t recall a game of this magnitude where a coach has cost his team in this way. Extraordinary and damaging for Tuchel.

Watch Spain at 1-0 last night. That’s courage. That’s bravery. And then watch England at 1-0. What’s the difference?
We are a better team than Argentina, I’ve no doubt in my mind. But we deserved to get beat in the end. In fact, it could have been 4-1.
Bringing on 3 defenders at 1-0 up. What message does that send? I wrote it in my Daily Mail column after the Mexico game. Until we understand that courage and bravery is controlling possession under pressure and not booting / heading it up the field 40 yards then this will always be the end result.

Here’s Thierry Henry talking more sense about England’s World Cup mentality than some of the English media right now.

Jude Bellingham bats off Thomas Tuchel's 'not happy' comment after England progress to the World Cup semi finals

Gabriel Clarke’s two interviews with Thomas Tuchel and Jude Bellingham were dreadful. Tuchel was very clear in his praise for England’s strength of character but he wasn’t happy with the performance. Clarke failed to understand Tuchel’s mentality comments. He then gave a misleading follow up to Bellingham which suggested to Bellingham that Tuchel was unhappy with the team. Unnecessarily disruptive and the wrong context of interviewing in two separate interviews.

Pundits again keen to stress just how hard it is to play against teams that are much worse than you. Just so brutally hard. Nothing harder. Except playing teams that are probably better than you, which we must avoid at all costs. Ideally we wouldn't play anyone really.

I love this clip of Schuey walking out at Wembley and seeing the Wanderers fans for the first time.
For someone usually so level-headed and calm, he can’t hide that smile.
That’s someone who knew exactly what was coming.
Made up for him - what a guy 🤍
