I was called in to the largest RNC HQ in Michigan today for a team meeting. All the top insiders where there all the Lead Party chairs and paid party executives and two top donors and funder raisers. Should be noted I didn't get the call until 11 am which at the time I was already on a project work site so unlike everyone else at the meeting I wasn't dressed for the occasion. Here is some of my hot takes once the meeting got rolling. 1. The Michigan RNC had major problems getting the big state donors to put up funds in this election the the feed back was it was because of Trump. No matter how go their arguments this election wasn't about Trump but about the state party candidates. 2. Over whelming negative feed back on direct voters calls. Same feed back as with the big donors it was all about Trump. 3. The GOP has a major problem getting small donations . Small donors make up less than 2% of the money raised in this election cycle. From their I managed to move the conversation passed today and all the negatives to tomorrow and what we start doing tomorrow. I no more finished my statement and the head man in the room got up from his chair and said "what have I been telling you all just what he said" From that point on I basically took over the meeting and I loved how everyone interacted with me. We had a awesome back and forth and I must say it felt very much like it is in spaces for me only with actual adults who are all trying to achieve the same goal. I lead the conversation about getting more people involved actively and early with the selection committee. And that's when, first I wont say her name but she is one of the biggest donors in Michigan asked me a simple question. She asked " what position do you want to run for" Yeah that's not going to happen though they as a group pressed me. These people gratefully are thinking ahead and know the party is in deep shit. And we are looking at a major rebuild. about a 3rd of their direct calls to get out the where told "I am not voting what Trump is in office " On a typically election day that office would be filled with volunteers the phone backs would all laid out and dailling like madd. None of that was happening. Only the people with skin in the game the big donors and paid RNC people were in that room and me. And I know why I got the call when I did and why the Head of the RNC who I have known for years and we have become personnel friend. Called me because they knew I would get them past today and excited for tomorrow. Yes I will be there tomorrow as I have said many times and so will they we have all made a promise to each other to start building something new and bigger by getting more people involved in the selection and giving them the tools and support they need to help rebuild the GOP. Tomorrow Trump become a lame duck and we ge to take the wheel of the party. I have to add the food spread was spectacular and there was a ton of it more then all the people there could eat in a week.
