Somewhere along the way, "evil" mutated. Villains used to be sickly and green. They used to deserve to be punished for their deeds... but now they're salacious and beautiful. Now, we all want them to punish *us*. What changed? Why is evil so hot? ▶youtu.be/rURVfYOkfZk

I had a buddy recommend a game called Sovereign Tower to me. Described it as "medieval Dispatch" and said it sucked away hours in the blink of an eye. I started it early this morning and it is so fun, holy moly. Probably going to shotgun this over the weekend.

I was fortunate enough to get an early key for Control Resonant. But because I am a chronically slow gamer, I only just yesterday finished it. Masterpiece. Certified MAN game. Nobody is doing it like Remedy dude. More thoughts below.

Admittedly, the combat got old to me after a bit. Late game it felt like bosses and enemies became damage sponges. Some of that is on me, I was trying to shotgun story and enemy encounters slowed that haha. But for the first 70% of the game it was sublime.

Zoe and Dylan are adorable. Their interactions gave me life. So much in the late game is endlessly creative. All around, a marvelous game. I cannot wait for what's next. Thanks again for the key @remedygames! This is the first time I've ever got a key for a game this big 🙈

Have you ever felt nostalgia for a game you've never played? It's a spooky sensation, not being able to tell why a game feels so familiar. Let's talk about why this happens and a few games that have done this for me. ▶youtu.be/URNOsmqJEng

The "fake human" character trope is one of my favorite narrative components in fiction. It's captivating to watch something discover what it is to be human. But something gets lost here, there is a deeper message to these stories that we often miss. ▶youtu.be/4Bdpww1m8Go?si=ohP2…

I finished Final Fantasy IX today and it deserves to be in the very same discussions as VII and X. What an incredible little story about purpose, identity, and finding meaning in the ones we love.

Nintendo is so funny man. They'll just casually drop the 4th game in one of their biggest franchises and then quickly move on to an extended look at their new thumb wrestling minigame.

Sometimes in fiction, babies and pregnancy and birth are used as a vehicle to take the horror to a new level. What are we meant to take away from these stories? Let's talk about something I like to call "Creation Horror" ▶youtu.be/nz8WyVdk3Fw

Gathering footage for a video and I'm reminded of how narratively beautiful Xenoblade 3 truly is. Watching these kids see a baby for the first time and discover how life and humanity is *supposed* to work is one of the most tender reminders of how wonderful being alive is.

Chainsaw man was never about Denji chasing his dreams, but the hollowness of achieving them and realizing that they can't replace the simple joys of life like family and friendship. To me, that panel of him dropping the chainsaw to save Asa represents the pinnacle of his journey

So yeah, I like the ending haha. Was it flawless? Hell no. Did Part 2 make promises that it didn't keep? Unquestionably.

But manga rarely if ever end well in my experience haha, and I think much of that is to do with the weekly episodic nature of it. It's hard to write a satisfying ending when the planet is giving you endless timely feedback.
