A while back, I spoke about the challenges with collecting data on behalf of organisations such as charities. It’s been pulled into a great article with some really interesting thoughts from a number of different folk, hope you enjoy! #Inclusivity #Data #Bias #Ethics #Effini

Great to reflect on this work done earlier this year with @HEAR_Network. We delivered a session at the #Data4GoodFest challenging participants to think about why and how we collect #equalities #data, especially to ensure that it isn’t just a tick-box exercise. #equity #inclusion
Increasingly, charities and SocEnts need to collect equalities data about service users, staff, and volunteers 🦄
And they can use this data to improve inclusivity, service delivery, and recruitment practice ✊🏾

I wrote on our Data4Good panel discussion on Decolonising Data, we explored what decolonising data could look like in the development sector and in research! 👇
Who asks the questions for which #data is needed? Who provides it,and for what purposes? Who controls how data is used?

Following up on my @Data4GoodFest post about using coding notebooks: there's now a version of jupyterlabs notebook environment that's easily installable on your PC as a self-contained app: blog.jupyter.org/jupyterlab-… - makes it much easier to get up and running.
Replying to @kanedr
Plus if you've always wanted to learn Python, SQL or another language then notebooks (like Google Colab Notebooks) are a great low friction way to get started without needing to install anything.

Needing to tell a #DataStory? @daveainsworth4 has some great advice @Data4GoodFest => "Tell a simple story. Explain why. Use pictures. Focus on stuff going wrong. Make it about people. And make sure it is new, relevant, and interesting to your audience." #Data #MandE #ResComm
You’ve got fascinating #data, but how do you get people to read about it? 👀
