We ran the numbers, and the Senate is currently around *6 to 7 points* (!) more Republican than the country as a whole, based on the position of the median states relative to the national average. That means Dems need ~landslide margins to win the Senate. fivethirtyeight.com/features…

What *some* colleges are doing isn't so far from a bait-and-switch. Lay out implausible conditions under which college could commence w/o COVID spread. Get tuition on premise of an in-person experience. Blame students when the conditions are inevitably violated. Then go online.
A few weeks ago, I wrote that Syracuse University's draconian punishments would not deter its student from socializing. Within days of arriving on campus, hundreds of students had a giant party. It's time to stop pretending that college students will socially distance.

A lot of confounding variables, but there may actually be something here.
Over the last 2 weeks, cases have risen by 84% in states that don't require wearing masks in public. In states where mask wearing is mandatory, cases have fallen by 25%. inquirer.com/health/coronavi…

Well, I sort of think it's a tale of two countries. The numbers in the Northeastern US have looked an awful lot like Italy's or other European hotspots. And they have a lot in common re: density, climate, socioeconomic status & the degree of seroprevalence in the population.
It’s one of the most fascinating things about this pandemic. People seem to want to believe that they will escape unscathed. Why did the United States not learn from China or Italy? We had months to prepare.

Q5. What should we be doing now to build a more equitable future after #COVID19? Explore ways to offer opportunities to all. Such as apprenticeships as a way to train/educate that would not require a large number of students in a traditional classroom. #HigherEd #CTE #ECMCFchat
