This reminds me of the game Legend of Black Kat, where you could upgrade your little pirate ship and do broadsides.
Might be time to an update on that kinda game.
Completed my third gym session today.
I know it's completely mundane for most people but what you've got to understand is that for the last few years, actually going to the gym would trigger a multi-day or multi-week crash.
It was an inflammatory cascade called PEM (post exertional malaise). This is common in syndromes like CFS, long COVID, and post-viral syndrome.
But I'm finally past this. I mean, mostly. I still have to be very careful that I don't overreach or push past limits.
Honestly at this point I'm probably more physically active than most Americans, and my energy just keeps coming back. It's the kinda thing that, a couple years ago, I thought might be gone forever.
I was preparing to be disabled the rest of my life. But, at my current trajectory, I might end up with more energy than I had in my twenties.
When a corporation can unilaterally cut you off from accessing the most valuable resources in the world, you are not free.
You are a peasant. You are a serf.
This is technofeudalism. We need mandatory access to AI as a right enforced by citizenship.
We need sovereign AI. We need local and open AI.
Actually open AI. Not 'OpenAI'.
banned for reverse engineering work? that’s wild
oh well, -$500, and a bunch of banked resets) but gained motivation to get 3 more machines and finish my cluster.
i have never used openai to exploit or find vulnerabilities, only local reverse engineering which tripped daybreak.
Still baffles the shit out of me.
Gaming has always been a driver of tech.
And we want better games, faster, cheaper.
We also want studio execs to have less say.
Yet all these neckbeards lose their collective marbles whenever *checks notes* gaming advances.
AI in video games are a confusing topic to me.
@TimSweeneyEpic recently got a lot of flak for pushing AI in game development.
There are opinion pieces left and right condemning AI use in game development.
Here I am, having worked for ~6 months on a game I released on Steam last week. And my sin, apparently, was using AI and disclosing it.
The comment section was pretty clear on that.
It's confusing to me. AI is a tool. IDE is a tool. A programming language is a tool. A graphics API is a tool. We're just using tools.
I've been writing software for about 3 decades now, I'd like to think that I know what I'm doing and am pretty good at it. I see AI as an incredible productivity booster.
It does some things that I pride myself on being good at, such as teasing out a math formula or optimizing an algorithm better than me most of the time (with a lot of handholding, granted), but for the most part it makes things I find tedious - fast.
As I software engineer, and a game maker, I take relatively little pride in knowing a programming language, or remembering 100 shortcuts in an IDE, or knowing a programming language spec by heart.
I remember the first time I needed to make an animated 3d model, almost 15 years ago now, and it took me about a week of full-time effort to get anywhere. I didn't feel particularly proud, I felt frustrated, I had a clear idea, but the tool and its complexity were getting in the way. Well, the tools are better now. Blender is better, animation tools are better, and there are AI models that keep improving at an incredible pace.
Ultimately, when I write a piece of software, or work on a game - I rarely think about the tools, they are a means to an end, not the point in itself.
Exactly as I've said
AI is an anarchic environment
Competition is the way to align the environment
Having the most energetic week I've had in more than twelve months!!!
The trick:
Major psychedelic integration 6 weeks ago followed by fixing my supplement stack.
Had to remove some stuff that was harmful and optimize the good stuff.
Here's my ranking, in order, of the supplements that have been most helpful:
1) Magnesium threonate - top hitter. Reduces central inflammation and increases mental endurance, and has systemic impacts
2) PEA - dramatically reduces central sensitivity and inflammation as well. Helps break CDR (cell danger response) which allows the body to escape sick mode
3) Luteolin - synergetic with PEA. Helps with sleep and central inflammation.
There's been a bunch of things I've removed from my stack as well, because they were more counterproductive than helpful.
But yeah my numbers speak for themselves!!
