How I start off every morning… fly the drone out to check the cows. Checked 5 herds on 5 different quarters. All from my kitchen table. Checked all the bunks, water, cows are all in and look comfortable. Takes 15-20 minutes. Strong winds today slowed the drone up a bit.

World hunger is back to 2005 levels. This is wrong. I was proud to represent Ireland at an event on climate & nutrition at #COP28 with experts working to ensure nutritious food as we work to overcome the impacts of climate change.⁦@SUN_Movement⁩ & ⁦⁦@GAINalliance⁩

Check out our preliminary research results demonstrating how improvements in animal health can not only enhance access to nutritious food in LMICs but also reduce #GHG emissions. 🌍🐄 #SustainableLivestock @GrowingReturns @NickWheelhouse1 @JohnTauzel
🌐 This critical research is a collaborative effort involving various institutions, including @ILRI's Mazingira Centre. It highlights the significance of animal health in nourishing LMIC populations while mitigating #GHG emissions. whylivestockmatter.org/artic…

Congrats Botswana: every Botswana farmer, rancher, cow owner who owns a smartphone can monitor his/her cattle with drones from the comfort of home as gov makes technology available. Cattle theft has risen "alarmingly." App also notifies if cattle is straying over border into Zim.

It was my pleasure to attend the 3rd in person meeting of the Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogen (SAGO) at @WHO HQs in Geneva this week. Glad to catch up with many friends and colleagues @TheaKFischer @cmmorel @mvankerkhove @DoctorGladys @c_drosten @ILRI – at Amsterdam, The Netherlands
.@WHO will not stop our work on understanding the start to the #COVID19 pandemic. Today I met with SAGO members, thanked them for trying to advance our understanding of the SARS-COV-2 virus origins. We discussed the need for China to make all data available, including to better understand the role of markets and farms, the earliest cases in Wuhan, and potential lab biosafety breaches.
