"Purpose in Pain is an honest look at how chronic pain affects not only the one physically suffering but all those around them. There is a real loss for everyone that should be acknowledged and appropriately grieved. However, Heflin doesn’t leave us in the dark forest with no way out but shows us that the path to light and freedom comes from seeking the Lord in the midst of the pain".
—Dave Furman, Chancellor, Gulf Theological Seminary @davefurman
"Purpose In Pain is for anyone who has suffered significant loss. Reading it makes you feel like David Heflin is your friend and that you are not alone after all. . . . I hope many people around the world receive this book as a gift".
—Sarah Sumner, President, Right On Mission
"David Heflin is the companion you need as you honestly face life with chronic illness and pain. Filled with pastoral wisdom and personal stories, Purpose in Pain skillfully laments the losses of health without losing sight of hope. Read this book and you will be encouraged in your suffering, strengthened in your faith, and reassured that you do not walk this path alone".

I’m surprised players never learn that lashing out at the fans never goes well for the player doing it or the team as a whole. It’s also just deflection from a bad performance. We are so far away from the mental toughness of the 2022 Astros.
This is a bizarre take for anyone who watched the game. They win if Bullock doesn’t drop a game-sealing gift from Allen. On the last two plays, their defensive line just whipped our OL. Frankly, CJ was the only reason they were in that game and in position to possibly win it.
Replying to @HoustonTexans
CJ stroud proving once again that he isn’t a franchise qb. Time to put all the faith in Davis mills until we trade for someone like Burrow or Goff
Truly incredible! #GoPokes

You might think we don't need another book on lament...but if you did, you'd be wrong :)
@chappellwrites new devotional draws on the Psalms in insighful and compassionate ways to help us lament. I know her workshop will be just as helpful.

Reading the words that my teen son has written as he shares some of his story in a parenting book I’m writing (for those navigating neurodivergence/mental illness) is enough to leave me in a ball of tears on the floor.
“However, as I look back, even though I struggled to believe and receive the love my parents assured me of, deep down, their unwillingness to give up on me spoke louder than words. I couldn’t understand it at the time, but no matter how bad things got, they would remind me that they’d never stop fighting for me. And their unwillingness to give up on me is what eventually led me to believe that maybe Jesus wouldn’t either.”
Parents—no matter how bleak things may seem, don’t give up.
I am excited to share @esthermariesmth’s latest article, “God Thinks of You,” for #BrokenandMended. I hope it encourages you as much as it did me! #JesusandChronicIllness #ChronicIllnessandHope #JesusInterceding brokenandmended.org/god-thin…

Here's a great conversation I had with Dan Finch, whose life got flipped upside down when he was diagnosed with #pulmonaryfibrosis and then learned his grandson had #leukemia. It is a story of perseverance and growing faith. #brokenandmended #IntheSeams brokenandmended.org/episode/…
