Alright baby, lets do it: a thread on fiction for socialists to check out. I'll start w/ literary fic, then get to genre fic.
First: one of the great American novels, possibly my favorite. Follows the Joads, who represent the dignity of working ppl during the Great Depression.
Pretty good! A beautifully crafted fantasy epic w/ a basic hero's journey at the core of it. I do wish there was a bit more to chew on thematically, and the pacing stumbles once or twice, but overall I enjoyed it & was impressed w/ the craftsmanship 👍
Don't make fun of kids who believe in Santa Claus. There are adults who believe today's elections in Israel will result in any sort of meaningful change for Palestinians.
Fun historical fact, esp for San Diego people: we had a surprisingly strong anti-war movement among soldiers & sailors during Vietnam. One group founded in SD called GIs Against Fascism put out a newspaper called Duck Power. This was their paper's mascot.
The right is itching to do this everywhere in Latin America, meanwhile they whine when they're prosecuted for fraud & corruption
