Perhaps I should explain what the words “conservative” and “liberal” actually mean.
Americans benefit when Americans, as well as citizens of other countries, are allowed to make their own choices about spending, saving and investing.
Free trade is an important component of overall freedom.
Texas didn’t become red until GWB became governor.
Florida didn’t become red until GWB became President.
America became orange when Biden couldn’t remember a single talking point.
America became blue when some Republicans couldn’t vote for corruption.

I've been thinking a lot about the shellacking that we republicans took in this election this week, and I think we need to acknowledge something:
First, nearly everything President Trump (who I voted for three times) has set out to do has been a failure.
Tariffs - probably a dumb idea to start, but we regular people have seen no benefit.
Reverse gerrymandering - it blew up in a big way.
Drain the swamp - yet he won't release the unredacted Epstein files.
The Iran War - so far a big L.
ICE raids - its gone way farther than many in the middle are comfortable with (and not far enough for the one issue immigration people.)
Leadership of the republican party - he's basically gutted conservatives from the party.
But worse than all of this, he's done it while being totally toxic and not communicating to the people.
When a president goes to war, he has the duty to make that case to the American people and to their representatives in congress. President Trump has not done that. We normies are paying $4.50 for gas. He's acting like that doesn't matter and it's worth it. But he needs to make that case explicitly and refuses to do it.
What he does do - loudly and often - is make himself the center of everything. Trump has one principle - Donal Trump. His one criteria for supporting a candidate isn't principles, but whether or not the person will kiss his ring.
There is also seems to be (whether the GOP wants to admit this or not) some teeth to the corruption complaints. Trump made millions on a dumb trash cryptocurrency - that is essentially stealing money from a bunch of naive people. He let's foreign governments buy him a jet. His family seems to trading on his name to the tune of billions.
If his last name was Obama or Biden we would be throwing a fit about any of these things - but somehow Trump gets a pass.
That might work for the 33% of the electorate who would vote for Trump anyway. The 33% who hate everything he does will make noise if he was a saint. But the 33% in the middle are sick of it - and that is what I think was said loud and clear last Tuesday.
You have to win and keep the middle. The middle includes female professionals who are aghast (not giddy) about stories of ICE raids. The middle includes people who want to see the country survive when the 80 year old man running it is no longer here. The middle includes guys making $60k per year who now have to pay higher everything because of a war that they thought they were voting against.
So my take on the awful Tuesday is we deserved it. Maybe it will be good for us in the long run and we can move away from crazy.
I hope Democrats govern well.
Republicans, my Party for 50 years, completely failed after 2016.
I have to give the other side a chance.
New data centers will only increase the cost of energy in the short term.
As centers become more efficient, and as the supply of energy increases to meet the new demand, the cost of energy will come down.
Caveat: As long as government doesn’t restrict energy supply.
What Jindal is claiming, that everyone should play by the same rules, is why communism doesn’t work, and can’t work, to create prosperity.
Conservatives, like me, probably need to do a better job explaining conservatism so politicians don’t bastardize the term.
Note: See my pinned post.

Conservatives have never believed everyone had to play by the same rules.
Conservatives want lots of little policy factories that identify the most successful policies.
Free trade is a proven prosperity policy.
The stock market in America collapsed today because too many CEO’s bet the wrong horse.
Even the best and the brightest, when not tethered to historical truth, spit the bit!
Republicans lost because they abandoned conservatives.
Democrats won because they nominated educated, accomplished and articulate candidates.
Smart people evolve as they age.
Smart people are sharks that constantly suck in information over their gills like real sharks suck oxygen out of water.
Most people calcify as they age, refusing new information that would renew their cells by allowing their hearts to harden.
I am a traditional conservative.
Educated progressives are not my enemy. Anyone with an education can be influenced by compelling arguments.
Uneducated Democrats and Republicans are my enemy. Both are immune to reason.
Most voters aren’t rich.
Most influencers get paid bunches to just be popular.
Can you see the disconnect and the problem?
It’s crazy how many politicians and voters say they are conservative without understanding conservative basics.
