Today in 1983, 7,300 U.S. troops invade the tiny Caribbean island of Grenada after a violent power struggle engulfs the country's Cuban-backed ruling party. Although a number of Caribbean states support the invasion, the world community, including several U.S. allies, condemn it

Regiments from current active duty Artillery units.
In WW1, the Army square divisions (2 Brigades, 4 Infantry Rgts) each had 3 artillery rgts.
In WW2, US triangular divisions with 3 Infantry Rgts had 4 FA battalions. US Artillery regiments were then numbered battalions (i.e. 1st FA Rgt became 1st FA Bn.)
In 1957, the US Regimental system changed back to FA Regiments incorporating numbered battalions in CONUS and overseas.

Normandy Campaign.
Endnotes. [excerpts]
1. Seven future Army Chiefs of Staff would participate in the Normandy campaign: Dwight Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, J. Lawton Collins, Matthew Ridgeway, Maxwell Taylor, William Westmoreland and Creighton Abrams.
2. The 1st US Army in the Normandy Campaign was commanded by LTG Omar B. Bradley, who would command US 12th Army Group during Battle of the Bulge, largest battle in US Army history. Later would become future Chief of Staff of the Army.
3. US V Corps was commanded by MG Leonard Gerow (VMI 1911). Besides Omaha beach, it was MG Gerow’s corps that was initially attacked in the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge, six months and 10 days later. The 29th Division commander, MG Norman Cota (USMA 1917) would later command the 28th Division in the Huertgen forest and on the southern shoulder of the Ardennes.
54. A Liberty ship which the US built 2,700 of, could carry 10,000 tons of cargo. Initially, the Allies landed almost two Liberty ships a day of supplies in Normandy. The US Army during WW2 would eventually fire almost one Liberty ship of artillery rounds every five days in the ETO WW2 which equates to 90,000 artillery rounds a day.
65. US tank production (1943) was 2,000 tanks a month. German tank production (1944) was 1,500 tanks a month, but most went to the 30 German panzer divisions on the Eastern Front (of 51 total) where the Russians were producing 2,000 T-34s a month for their 46 tank corps.
74. US TOT-“Time on Target” fires, developed by the US Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, were concentrations of artillery battalions fired to land simultaneously at one grid location. The use of this against German tanks was extremely effective.
75. The US built 2.4 million trucks in WW2, whereas the Germans produced only 345,000 trucks. US infantry divisions had 2,000 trucks assigned, while a German infantry division, besides 600 trucks, relied on 4,000 horses.
Before 1939, the US Army was just as dependent on horses. US 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Sam Houston was the Army test bed division for motorization, 1936-1939. [At that time, the 15th Artillery Regt "Best howitzer section" trophy was sponsored by the local horse feed store.]
110. Gen. William E. Depuy, first TRADOC Cdr, 1973, (Bn XO, 90th ID, Normandy) in an interview said, “The ETO lasted eleven months. We had five months of operational maneuver, (July – September 1944, March- May 1945) and six months of operational attrition.”

Today in 1917, a U.S. Army gun battery on the Western Front near Bathelemont, France fires the first American artillery shells of the First World War. It's a token gesture; the bulk of the United States' contingent to France won't be ready for major action until mid-1918.

Since 1940, Tanks have become 4 times more lethal (2 KMs versus 500 meters) and have dispersed accordingly. Also, armored and mechanized forces have further dispersed due to improvements in long-range, accurate Joint Fires.
(Note: In 10 of the 11 historical offensives, the Attacker had Air Superiority in order to mass forces and maintain the initiative.)

💥NEW: CNN's Lulu Garcia-Navarro *ADMITS* Trump using "GOOD STRATEGY" for Midterms💥
Garcia-Navarro argued Trump making himself the central focus of the Midterms is an effective way to juice Republican turnout.
Turnout is the key in Midterms because way fewer Americans vote.
Trump is able to activate crucial voters like nobody else.
And he's leaving it all on the field by delivering constant rallies.
Even CNN can't help but acknowledge it's smart for Trump to hit the trail and tell his voters to pretend he's on the ballot.
