Now - a real β€˜Marmite’ question that divides opinions… Do you remember when Lucozade was served in glass bottles wrapped in orange cellophane - it made it feel more like β€˜medicine’ than a refreshing drink - some loved it, some hated it… #eastend #MemoryLane

This Buster Keaton gag is now 100 years old, but it still boggles my mind. 🀯

C1935 - some spectacular hoardings to be found along the roadside in Knightsbridge - familiar products such as Guinness and OXO rub shoulders with bill posters advertising popular shows such as American performer Eddie Cantor at the London Pavilion… #london #history #theatre

I am aware many of you may already have seen it, but particularly for those new followers - here is one of my personal favourite shots of Tower Bridge (and yes - that IS a lunatic up the central flagpole…) #eastend #History #towerbridge

I've cleaned-up a festive auctochrome for you, of an old Christmas tree. It was photographed in colour by Peter Vedenisov 112 years ago, at the end of 1911. Amongst the many national flags which festoon the branches, it's interesting to note that some no longer exist.

I think this is quite a remarkable autochrome portrait: It is Henri Louis René Lumière, photographed in colour 109 year ago by his father Auguste. Doesn't it just strip away the barriers of time? He died over 50 years ago, at the ages of 74, but is forever captured in his prime.

People said at the time it was typical JNT stunt casting but I thought she was very convincing as an undercover enemy spy! Shame she died so soon.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ALERT - Where is the smallest Cathedral in London? A bit of a trick question, because if one leans over the side of Vauxhall Bridge, the statue of β€˜Architecture’ holds in her hand a beautiful replica of St Paul’s, sculpted by Alfred Drury... #london #History

Rotten Row is a broad track which runs along the south side of Hyde Park - its name is said to be derived from β€˜Route de Roi’ - literally the Kings Road - incidentally in 1690 it became the very first artificially lit highway in Britain using over 300 oil lamps… #london #History

Travel back to the shores of northern France 113 years ago. I have cleaned-up this autochrome by Gustave Gain, showing his wife Adeline and her strikingly-hatted companions in 1910. It is original colour, not colourised.
