January 2026 Recruiting Checklist:
1/ Transfer Portal Opens 1/2 - 1/16
2/ Dead Periods 1/1 - 1/4
3/ Contact Period: Coaches can make in-person contact off campus.
Look semi-decent, you never know when a coach may drop in, have transcript, tape and course list ready.

This D1 Transfer Portal is going to be unlike any other so far. Not only is there one window, but it's only open for 15 days starting on January 2nd with most schools starting classes no later than January 20th. It's unlikely a recruit:
- Trips 3-4 schools
- Commits
- Signs
- Gets Accepted
- Enrolls
- Finds Housing
- Moves
All in 18 days or less? This isn't the December portal last year with 2 months to decide or the May window that gave you all summer. The time crunch is as tight as its ever been.
And that's IF you find a spot.
