This👇🏼 … the reality of the messages we are made to believe about ourselves in the psychiatric system. As I said on Wed at an event with ASW - the belief I’m a second grade citizen is so hard to undo after over 30 years as someone deemed ‘mentally ill’. It is exhausting!
I've been noticing a lot how these words land like bullets that knock me over all the time as I start to gather my thoughts in my thesis. I think I know... and then I disintegrate again. And again and again and again and again and... omg it's exhausting
ALT Most of the time I hold firm to my beliefs and ethics. Out of what I know I try my best to be a courageous activist, a kind human, a curious learner. and yet, these old words rise up all the time and I feel myself disintegrate what if I am delusional? lacking judgement and insight? what if everything I believe is wrong? should I just shut up and disappear myself?

Boundary setting plays an important role at work. Boundaries give us a sense of control/agency, clarify our responsibilities, preserve our energy & let us live our values & standards. It's not just about individual boundaries but how we understand & support each other's boundaries as a team. Often "boundaries" means time boundaries or home/life balance, but there are multiple other boundaries we should take account of as well. Great piece from @Haypsych:

Every team needs sceptics; challengers of cultural norms who say “But what if? Why aren’t we listening harder to staff? Why can’t we try this? Let’s be honest this isn’t working”. Insecure teams usually exit or shun them. No sceptics = dangerous group think, especially in the NHS
