Defensive film review What I thought from watching the game was true after watching the film. The box score doesn’t really match the results. 4.2 yards a play. Boise completed 52% of passes. Rushed for 3 yards a carry. Terrible on 3D. Good on 4th (continuing issue). Just too inconsistent. First Boise drive not physical enough upfront. Then went drives in a row where they didn’t allow a first down. Then random drive in the 4Q where it looked the same. Run defense was generally fine. No explosive runs. Williams is going to be a dude at LB. Good to see. Thought Jackson improved a bunch. DL was super active in pass pro. Probably the best I’ve seen them rush individually under Lanning. I think I charted one called pressure on a passing down. Otherwise it was all 4 or 5 man rush (with 5 DL in the game). The two biggest breakdowns were the Williams bust and the TE beating Koi for a TD. That one really baffled me. Koi tackled well and was around the ball a bunch. The screen pass TD was unacceptable tackling by Mixon. Just wrap up man. Not much to report in the secondary. Not a ton of passes completed down the field. Finney played all over. More safety than I’ve seen. Very ambitious and willing tackler. He’s good at it.
