Must everything be copied?
What troubles me isn't only the borrowing. It's what's being lost on both sides. Every culture has their own rich traditions and their own ways of leading a wedding ceremony.
Each time you swap something out, you are erasing your culture with your own hands. From Gèlè to ìpèlé, abẹ̀bẹ̀, irùkẹ̀rẹ̀, now Alága and Ìdọ̀bálẹ̀. Where does it really end?
And instead of crediting the source, the next step is always co-ownership. “We call it this in our own language, you didn’t invent MC”.
In another generation, these wedding videos will be held up as proof by your children claiming you’ve never been to Lagos.
Putting this out now that Alága is a Yorùbá institution and practice. The Alága Ìdúró and Alága Ìjókòó guide the ceremony in our language, proverbs and protocol. It isn't a generic wedding MC role. We don’t want to hear stories later. Thanks.
You want a culture where Yoruba ladies will start opening their legs for every Dick,Tom &Harry. You want a decadent society bcos
certain women are using you guys as a means to an end ??
Very soon there will longer be Yoruba men,but ayederu Yoruba men bred by Amaka and Chinyere.

Pesent position right now and to be frank I have stopped chasing them. Most of my besties are from Ibo tribe I met during my service year and Lag. They are bold to walk up to you and express their feelings..reverse is the case for our own ladies. They should enjoy their ṣakara

When you read the works of Anthony Ndi and he explains what the indigenous people of Southern Cameroon suffered in the hands of Igbo nationalist leaders under the NCNC in the 1950s, you will never have a single pity for the Biafra victimhood nonsense and the cries of marginalisation.
Nigeria lost Southern Cameroon because of the obnoxious racist policies of Igbo nationalists of the first republic.
Southern Cameroonians according to the book referred to them as “unruly black colonialists” who were treating the people of southern Cameroon as conquered people.
When you hear them use terms like “Living space”, no man’s land, “one Nigeria” etc they are all ethnic supremacist ideologies that their parents have wired into them.
Every single Yoruba must know what they are up against. You are dealing with folks who believe they are the successors to British colonialists with a pathological sense of entitlement.

The so campaign against tribalism has always been the strongest tool of propaganda of ethnic supremacists who are mostly minorities looking for how to hijack power, justify minority rule and crushing uprising against their expansionists agenda.
A good example is the Obidient movement which was Igbo nationalist movement which openly promotes Yoruba Lagos, uses “operation capture Lagos” as a tool of mass mobilisation and other fascist slogans yet they go about telling people about detribalisation and other useless jargons meant to lure their naive prey mostly young Yorubas into their camp.
The Fulanis also use this tool aggressively. They tell Yorubas, Nupes, Hausas and other non Fulani Muslims in Nigeria to destroy ethnic identity and embrace religious brotherhood as a tool of cohesion while at the same time, cornering the entire commonwealth, power and resources of the indigenous people while hiding under religious Puritanism. They are also known for preaching against tribalism while they enslave the majority population.
The Bantus in Rwanda, Uganda and the whole of East Africa have themselves to blame not the Hima-Tutsi hegemony who are minorities but very smart to deploy this psychological tools as a means of survival, power and domination.
This is a why only lunatics; will join the pan African nonsense because many African groups are also local colonizers.

Calling African ethnic groups tribes instead of Nations is where the original sin is. The Hausa and Yoruba Nations have higher populations than France and England.

Opeyemi Famakin has said nothing but the truth… You cannot bully Nigerians not to trivialize a tribal issue.
Since the time of Dora, the war against fake consumables has been a war against Igbo traders. She died in that war, her husband was killed like a dog in that war in Igbo land. More than 4 assassination attempt on her life from your people.
So, DONT come here today and gaslight Nigerians to ignore the fact that it’s your brothers that are poisoning us

ÌRÒYÌN LÓRÍ (news on the head)
I'm the headline😌
Gele styled by me btw😘

ALT Inspired by the grandeur of Yoruba traditional styling, this look was created around the idea of making the head itself a canvas. The gele , usually a symbol of elegance, status and celebration — becomes something larger, louder and almost impossible to ignore. Ìròyìn Lórí is my little play on the idea of me wearing the news instead of reading it, I'm the headline yunno😂🥰 This isn't just about making a gigantic gele, it's about reimagining what tradition can look like, because culture doesn't have to remain frozen in the way we first encountered it. We can honour where we come from while still allowing our creativity to take the wheel.
