How scared is Danielle Smith of the separatists? She is requiring them to sign a loyalty out that they can't speak about separatism anymore! But... In claiming that she'll require them to follow the code of conduct or else... She's violating the code of conduct. /1

.@CarrieTait thank you for your investigative journalism. Democracy works best when journalists can shine the light on what matters. Money laundering investigation of high ranking, Alberta government officials. This could be unprecedented.

On CBC, Smith stopped short of saying that she will disqualify separatist candidates or refuse to sign their applications... But she made it clear that no separatists will be welcome in leadership or official roles and a pledge must be signed. The Purge apparently, has begun.

EVERYBODY STOP TALKING ABOUT THE REFERENDUM. LOOK OVER HERE!!!
Starting January 4, every school in Alberta will proudly fly both the Canadian and Alberta flags, and any other flags will only be temporarily displayed when they serve a clear educational, commemorative or community purpose. Let’s teach our children to celebrate our amazing country and province. Read the full details here: alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=9…

I will die on this hill: The government is not the boss of reporters. The "question limit" is a COVID hangover. If politicians don't want reporters repeating questions after the "limit" they imposed to avoid pushback, they should answer them the first time.
Replying to @HappyHourHoward
She's always interrupting and going over her question limit. Rude.

It wasn't a choice. Rebel News was first in line at the mic. The choice is making reporters line up at a physical mic stand - in a room that is already mic'd up - and limiting to 2 questions, rather than fielding questions scrum-style, like politicians did prior to COVID.
WATCH: Alberta Premier Danielle Smith takes her first two questions from Rebel “News,” which was a choice. The *not* reporter asked about “dark money” that influenced the ‘Stay’ vote.

"An arsonist wanting credit for putting out the fire"-@LukaszukAB says Smith deserves "zero" credit for the referendum results. He slams her for dividing Albertans & wasting taxpayer money on a question that should’ve been settled in the legislature. 🎧: traffic.megaphone.fm/CORU377…

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said candidates, MLAs, prov and local board reps and candidates, must be on board with federalism. But Smith, when pressed, wouldn't say whether she would disqualify people or kick them out.

NEWS: Alberta's premier says if UCP members can't get on board with the party being pro-Canada, they should jump ship and find a new one.
I hope every UCP member and supporter will watch this video. The referendum is behind us. Albertans gave their answers and our party must honour that mandate. What comes next is the only fight that matters, and it is twelve months away. Naheed Nenshi's NDP have told us exactly what they will do with power: 🟠 Reopen the drug consumption sites we closed 🟠 Let minors undergo irreversible gender surgeries without their parents' knowledge. 🟠 Shut down school choice. 🟠 Bring back the production cap and the net zero regulations to phase out our energy sector. 🟠 Open border immigration. 🟠 A carbon tax. 🟠 And Avi Lewis in Ottawa pulling Nenshi’s strings. United, our party will win. Divided the NDP wins and all Albertas would suffer as a result. The time for division is over. The time to unite and fight for a stronger Alberta and Canada is now.
There's a new version of this post

One of the key messages that we were getting from some in the Alberta separatist camp was that a vote on option 2 was not to separate, but to send a message to Ottawa. So how many sent a message? How can separatists now claim 25% of Albertans want to separate?

*separatists get destroyed in referendum* Separatists: it's about the friends we made along the way 🥰
I’m still happy with the referendum because it is making people get involved! This isn’t happening in other provinces.

Just a note- separatists pitched option 2 to hold a binding referendum as a way to send a message to Ottawa. Many folks jumped on that idea. Which means, no, 24.5% of Albertans do not support separation.

When those first unofficial results started rolling out, there was silence here at the APP watch party and I heard someone say “uh oh.” Then, no reaction when CBC projected that the remain side had won the vote. I saw a couple people cross their arms.
