I want to share what I think about MDs. I love each and everyone that busted their ass, borrowed too much money, sacrificed more than we can ever quantify, in hopes of helping their patients. Medicine is an imprecise science. The uncertainties far outnumber the absolutes.

Better pain control and decreased opioid requirement after CABG @UHAnesthesia @UHAnesCritCare @UHCTSurgery
After totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass surgery, intrathecal morphine produced significant postoperative #analgesia and decreased #opioid consumption. Read the article: ow.ly/gRs050LTFyO

When you hold back feedback, you deprive people of the chance to learn from you.
If you’re afraid they'll be defensive, ask if they’re interested in your reactions.
If they say yes, they're opting in. If they say no, at least you've let them decide instead of choosing for them.
I made some very spicy food after making a #TraderJoes mediated error.
#lookalikesoundalike #lasa errors in #medicine can cause a #medicationerror the same way. #MedEd isn’t enough to prevent it. #FOAMed @pppforpatients #anesthesia #MedTwitter

Measuring #rightventricle performance is best done with a combo of #echocardiography and a #pulmonaryarterycatheter. Great review by @KagiyamaNobu, but I like to use PAPI too. #Pulmonaryarterypulsatilityindex. Just remember, PA catheters can be dangerous and difficult to place

#Research: Vasopressor of choice for #rightventricle failure is primarily #norepinephrine.
I usually opt for #epinephrine for my #patient after #cardiopulmonarybypass and norepinephrine with #nitroglycerin for RV strain with #pulmonaryhypertension. #MedTwitter #FOAMed
Acute failure of the #RightVentricle is can be caused by many factors. A #multimodal approach to #treatment can help save out #patients. This @JACCJournals review has some amazing #clinicalpearls #FOAMed #MedTwitter

☑️Did you know that bag mask ventilation is effective for oxygenation in >90% of patients as basic airway management technique to keep them alive? Why don’t we train general public 2learn the technique? @jducanto @NaveenEipe @NightShiftMD @EM_RESUS @DGlaucomflecken #bagmask4life
Because the #rightvetricle is 60% thinner walled than the LV and about 1/6th the mass, it also uses about 1/6th the amount of the amount of #oxygen.
However, it is also there much more acutely sensitive to changes in #afterload

We were taught that #coronary #perfusion is only during #diastole, that's true for the #leftventricle.
The #rightventricle is always getting perfusion.
Perfusion pressure = Arterial pressure - target organ pressure

#Cardiologists: Left ventricle function is always included on #echo report conclusions.
Right ventricular function is not.
Why are we so #leftventricle centric?

The #patient underwent #surgical removal after careful consideration. What #medical options are there? journal.chestnet.org/article….
The #surgeon maximized access to the #thrombus in order to prevent it from tearing and having to perform #ventricular exploration. This allowed the thrombus to be removed in one piece.
