$MSFT: I've been asked what Level 70 and below means in Microsoft's voluntary exit announcement. From my understanding, Microsoft uses an internal leveling system to classify employees by seniority, responsibility, and compensation. Roughly speaking: Levels 59–62: Engineers, analysts, and professional roles Levels 63–64: Senior engineers and managers Levels 65–67: Principal engineers and senior management Levels 68–70: Partner-level technical leaders, directors, and senior directors Titles can vary by organization, but you get the picture. So it is easy to see here that this is not simply about trimming junior employees or eliminating jobs AI can perform..... we're potentially talking about some very experienced, highly compensated technical and management talent. And with Microsoft's AI infrastructure spending showing no signs of slowing, I find that particularly interesting. What I want to see is which functions lose people, which positions Microsoft chooses not to replace, and where hiring continues.

BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg. Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible. This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.

Let’s set the record straight: @lcfr_hax was the first to discover php2shell and develop a working exploit. See his August 5 tweet: xitter.cf/lcfr_hax/status/208503… His work convinced the PHP Foundation to invest in fixing this entire bug class. He then worked around the clock to review, test, and retest the patches.

Two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. These vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code in PHP core, potentially compromising sensitive data and networks. The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now: ➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. ➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP. ➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation. ➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims. For the latest information, follow PHP’s announcement on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

Microsoft Threat Intelligence is tracking an active supply chain attack in which a threat actor compromised the trusted OAuth App of the backup application ConnectWise Cloud Backup (AppId: 506e08f9-6e9a-4da4-942b-a099a03644ae), formerly SkyKick Backup, to obtain access tokens across customer tenants. ConnectWise Cloud Backup is a multitenant vendor application; customers grant consent for the application to operate in their tenants. We assess that the threat actor likely abused permissions previously granted by customers to the application, including highly elevated permissions like Directory.ReadWrite.All. On October 15, 2026, we observed broad successful service principal authentication originating from the IP address 144.172.64[.]128. Follow-on activity included Microsoft Graph API reconnaissance and attempts to add additional credentials on the related service principal in target tenants to maintain direct access as a backdoor. Microsoft Defender detects post-exploitation activity with the following alerts: - Any alert related to "Suspicious sign-in" - Graph API activity from a Microsoft threat intelligence IP address - Verified Threat Actor IP Defenders should review service principal sign-ins from unrecognized IP addresses, app credential changes, and OAuth grant activity associated with this specific OAuth AppId. In addition, we recommend looking for Threat Intelligence alerts on matching of IP against the Graph API activity and service principal activities. We will continue to monitor this incident and will share updates as they become available. We encourage customers to check ConnectWise advisory for more information and additional guidance: msft.it/6013aQBvV. Indicators of compromise (IOCs): - App name: ConnectWise Cloud Backup - AppId: 506e08f9-6e9a-4da4-942b-a099a03644ae - Publisher name: SkyKick - Source IP: 144.172.64[.]128 - User agents: Python-urllib/3.12, python-requests/2.31, python-requests/2.34.2

Microsoft has dropped CVE-2026-69730: a Windows DNS Server RCE with a 9.8 CVSS score. No authentication. No user interaction. Low complexity. No mitigation. No workaround. Basically, it doesn’t knock on the door; it lets itself in, makes a brew and starts executing code. Patch it. 😂

Whether you think AD is harder to defend than Entra or not (it’s not), security incidents even in AD don’t always require you to go nuclear.
Ask your Active Directory team one question: could we tear down Active Directory and rebuild from scratch this week? Hugging Face survived its AI-agent intrusion by tearing down and rebuilding parts of their core infrastructure. Microsoft Security architect, Tarek Dawoud says that question is the whole AD argument now.

Massive fan of @13CubedDFIR . @davisrichardg videos were a huge inspiration when I was starting out in DFIR. Really proud to bring things full circle by sharing the native macOS tool I developed for Windows forensics and incident response on his YT channel. I recorded a quick walkthrough to show how it works in practice. Check this out! ⬇️
A new 13Cubed episode is out! 🍎 Windows forensics on a Mac usually means firing up a VM first. Not anymore. IRFlow Timeline is a free, open-source DF/IR timeline tool built natively for macOS. Feed it EVTX, Plaso, $MFT, or $J and go straight to process inspection, lateral movement, persistence, and VirusTotal enrichment. Featuring the tool's author, @r3nzsec 👇 youtube.com/watch?v=W9xHbNgZ…
