Never thought crypto would get me a better FX rate. Just landed in Europe and stopped by @MoneyGram.
Cash exchange rate was 0.81 EUR/USD. Turns out crypto got me a better rate 0.87, so I cashed out 200 USDC for €174.04 using @Decaf_so with @circle on @StellarOrg.
7% more euros. Crypto is becoming better money IRL.
Next stop: #Meridian2026! 🚀

Stellar is one of those networks where blockchain meets real world.
Stellar story is found in how money moves in the real world.
Today, we’re looking at Decaf Wallet, a non-custodial wallet built to make digital dollars easier to send, receive, hold and convert into local currency.
but the wallet itself is only part of the story.
The bigger opportunity is what the infrastructure makes possible.
Through Stellar Disbursement Platform, organizations can distribute USDC across borders, while Decaf gives recipients a way to receive and use those funds without depending entirely on traditional banking systems.
We’ve already seen this work in practice.
In 2025, the International AIDS Society used Stellar, USDC and Decaf Wallet to distribute 425 payments to 248 scholarship recipients across more than 50 countries during its conference in Kigali.
Instead of transporting cash internationally, sorting it into envelopes and having recipients queue to collect their stipends, the funds were sent digitally to their phones.
The same infrastructure is now being positioned for humanitarian disbursements, including emergency support for families, field workers and beneficiaries in regions where access to traditional banking is limited.
Decaf says its payment infrastructure has reached more than 180 countries and processed over $100 million in the last six months.
This is what real-world blockchain utility can look like
These are the kinds of stories we’re here to tell.

Emergency aid in Venezuela. Allowances for participants from 95 countries. Food assistance in Wyoming.
This is what real-world projects have taught us about stablecoin payments, and how they’re shaping @Decaf_so.

This may have been the most challenging digital bulk payment projects ever attempted.
Nearly 900 people. 95 countries. Thousands of payments. Different currencies, banking systems and ways of accessing money.
Delivering $USDC to recipients phones, via @Decaf_so at @iasociety #AIDS2026.
Funds delivered digitally, with each person able to choose how to use them locally.
No envelopes of cash. No lines to collect payments.
A glimpse of what global payments can look like.
Shout out to @StellarOrg & @OwlTing!
For years, @iasociety carried cash overseas and counted it into envelopes for its conference scholars.
At AIDS 2026 in Rio, about 900 people from 95 countries were paid on their phones via OwlPay, @StellarOrg and @Decaf_so. The backup cash was never used.

@Decaf_so Card caught my attention because it takes a slightly different approach:
• 🔐 Non-custodial — you keep control of your funds
• 💳 $5 virtual-card activation
• 💸 $0 monthly/annual fee
• 🌍 0% Decaf-added FX fee — Visa exchange rate
• 📱 Apple Pay + Google Pay
• 🪙 Spend USDC wherever Visa is accepted
A $5 activation fee, but no recurring card fee — an interesting trade-off.

Just got my speaker card for Meridian 2026. 🇵🇹
Decaf will be giving a Lightning Keynote in Lisbon this October.
This year, we’ve seen stablecoins used for humanitarian aid paying thousands of families in Venezuela, helped people from 100+ nationalities access and use money across borders, and watched the technology start to disappear into the background.
That’s the part I find most exciting.
Stablecoins underneath. AI handling the complexity. Bank accounts, cards, cash, QR and WhatsApp on the surface.
Most people may never think of themselves as “crypto users” - they’ll just have better financial tools.
There are a lot of events where people talk about what blockchain could do.
Meridian is increasingly where you can see what it’s already doing.
See you in Lisbon, Oct 28–29. 🇵🇹

Cash that gets directly to the right recipients immediately is the best type of support in times of need.
I can vouch for @GiveDirectly - in my opinion this is unequivocally the best organization to donate to, and have your donations efficiently get to the right people, immediately!
If you have been wondering which is the right organization to donate to for the Venezuelan Earthquakes - it is this one!

i can send payments on stellar anywhere in the world in a couple of seconds for a fraction of a penny, and the recipient can either go to a @MoneyGram location to withdraw it as cash or use their @Decaf_so credit card to spend stellar USDC directly.
I think that’s pretty cool!

grateful to @business for interviewing me for this special report on Venezuela 🇻🇪 we talked about something we venezuelans already knew: stablecoins aren't new here, they were embedded in daily life long before the quakes, which is exactly why they worked as humanitarian aid when it mattered.
people like @sanllenito moved donations through @binance P2P and turned it into supplies almost immediately, thank you @metavarce from @yummy_vzla, @victorcardenas from @slashapp who also help to move a little bit more of 1m in donations, and the teams at @Decaf_so , @airtminc and so many others who reached out and helped us coordinate across organizations to make it possible.
Stablecoins are emerging as a key conduit for emergency aid following Venezuela’s earthquakes. bloomberg.com/news/newslette…
