Southern boy. #MoonCrestPack Enforcer. Pretty enough to forgive, reckless enough to regret. Don’t trust the grin unless you can handle the bite. | SS | Fated Mate AnamCara |

-Born to a bloodline of shifters. My wolf sleeps, but the colors beneath my skin never do- I pour whiskey, flirt shamelessly, and I already know you're lying.

What you, @ShapeOfUrTruth up to? Should I just throw you over my shoulder and drink to the bond you thrusted on me?

I suppose... are you insinuating something?

Should I just toss you over my shoulder?
Morning. I have to reply to the hottie in the woods. It’s been a minute. I do remember how to do this *laughs*

“Because camping this deep without permission is a real good way to have a bad night.” Only then did I look at her again. The curly-haired girl. Just for a second. Long enough for my wolf to press forward. Long enough for me to want to step closer. I didn’t.

I stayed right where I was. “And sweetheart,” I said, careful not to make her the whole conversation in front of her friends, “I surely hope one of y’all has a better answer than we didn’t see a sign.” My smile tipped, but my attention stayed sharp.

Whatever this was, whatever she was to me, I’d deal with it later. Right now, I needed to know who led them onto pack land. And whether it had been an accident.

The campsite quieted fast. I kept my hands loose at my sides and let my smile come easy, the kind folks trusted right before they realized they shouldn’t. “Y’all lost?” My gaze swept over the tents, the fire, the cooler, then the tree line behind them. Too comfortable.

The red-string pull tightened anyway, mean little thing that it was. I ignored it. “You got a reason for being this far in?” I asked, my voice still carrying that Southern ease, though there was nothing soft under it.

Too settled in. Either they didn’t know where they were, or somebody had told them this place was safe. Both options bothered me. “This is private land,” I said, calm enough. “MoonCrest land.” My eyes almost went back to her. I stopped them. Barely.

I forced my focus off her and back onto the campsite. Humans. Pack land. No permission. That was the problem. Not the pull. Not her. Not the way my wolf acted like she mattered. I stepped out from the trees before I could talk myself out of it. “Evenin’.”

I had never wanted a mate. Never wanted a bond. Never wanted fate crawling into my life with pretty eyes and wild hair, expecting me to kneel just because my wolf suddenly forgot how to act right. That wasn’t me. That wasn’t going to be me.

Curly hair. Wild, unruly, and catching the firelight in every messy twist. It fell around her face like it refused to behave, and for half a second, I forgot why I’d come closer in the first place. Something pulled tight inside my chest. Not pain. Not fear. Worse.

Recognition. My wolf went quiet, then fixed on her so hard it felt like a line had hooked somewhere beneath my ribs. A red string pulled taut between me and a girl I’d never met, and every instinct in me wanted to follow it. I didn’t. I planted my boots where they were. No.
