October is #PedestrianSafetyMonth, a perfect reminder that keeping our community safe starts behind the wheel. A slight difference in your speed can change a life forever. Let’s protect pedestrians today and every day! 🚶♀️🚶♂️
6-9 p.m. is one of the deadliest windows for pedestrians — right as most of us are driving home, picking up dinner or walking the dog.
The majority of pedestrian deaths in 2024 happened in the dark. Slow down and stay alert!

ALT A safety poster titled "Dusk Danger Zone" features a nighttime driving scene. It emphasizes watching for vulnerable road users and wildlife, paying extra attention near crosswalks, intersections, residential streets, and rural roads. The poster warns that 76% of pedestrian fatalities in 2024 happened in the dark. Safety tips include slowing down, increasing following distance, and never driving drowsy.
The moment you step out of your vehicle, you become a pedestrian. 🚶➡️
For October's National Pedestrian Safety Month, we're reminding everyone that safety is a 2-way street:
👁️ Drivers: Scan crosswalks and stay focused — put the phone away.
👟 Pedestrians: Stay visible, use crosswalks and look both ways before stepping off the curb.

🌧️ Nor’easter reminder: Heavy rain and wind can bring power outages.
If a signal is dark or not working, treat the intersection as an all-way stop. Stop, look, and proceed only when it’s safe.
🏠 If conditions get bad, stay indoors and stay off the road.
