It has been 67 years since she left Earth…
and yet, her story still sits heavy on the human conscience.
Laika was not just a dog in a rocket.
She was trust, wrapped in fur.
A quiet heartbeat that believed humans would protect her—
because that is what dogs do.
Her real name was Kudryavka, meaning “curly.”
A stray from the frozen streets of Moscow.
No crown. No shelter. No choice.
She was chosen not for greatness,
but because she was calm, obedient, and strong enough to endure pain.
As if suffering itself became her qualification.
On November 3, 1957, she was placed inside Sputnik 2.
The capsule had food.
It had water.
It had padded walls.
But it had no return plan.
No goodbye.
No understanding.
No way home.
Some say she lived for a few hours.
Some say a few days.
What we know for certain is this—
Her final moments were spent alone,
orbiting a planet she could no longer touch,
surrounded by silence, fear, and heat—
unaware that the world below was cheering a victory built on her life.
Laika circled Earth 2,570 times.
A small body carrying the weight of human ambition.
Until, months later, her capsule burned up on re-entry—
and she disappeared into the same fire that made her a legend.
Laika never chose to be a pioneer.
She never asked to be history.
She never understood science, politics, or progress.
She only trusted.
And in that trust, she became the first living being
to bridge the distance between Earth and the stars.
Today, we don’t remember her with pride alone.
We remember her with gratitude,
with regret,
and with the quiet promise that progress should never forget compassion.
Because sometimes,
the bravest hearts don’t roar.
They beat softly…
and still change the world forever. 🐾🌍✨

This banner at Dwarka Sector 12 Shubham Apartments is directly contradicted to what @gupta_rekha said a few days back. @MCD_Delhi are you now relocating animals if someone calls?
I would like to request @BJP4Delhi @BJP4India to take stern action against the society as they are using hon'ble Pm @narendramodi Ji name and picture to commit an illegal act. PM never wanted to commit cruelty on animals I have heard his Man Ki Baat episode on Desi dogs
This poster not only set dangerous precedents but also a threat to dogs living there and their feeders as cognizable offence can be committed by Dog haters @DelhiPolice @SCJudgments @PetaIndia @amandeeps923 @pfaindia @sharmaleena @APMAT15 @barandbench @Bsankshay @CMODelhi

We destroyed their forests, their trees, their shrubs — leaving them with no food. Alas.
When will politicians understand that all living beings on this planet deserve respect, and that it is our duty not to destroy their homes?

MEDIA(SUN TV) CAUGHT IN LYING TO PUBLIC INSPITE OF THE EVIDENCE!
@SunTV @SUNtvnews : Aren’t you ashamed of posting lies on your channel? Do you really think this is journalism? No. This is something else entirely.
Here’s the evidence showing that the dogs were caught in Madras High Court, today morning!
And as usual, you lied.
Worse, two dogs were killed in the process!
@indSupremeCourt :This is how media lies!! Stop believing everything that you see on media!

A press conference for animals of India is being held on 2nd Jan 2026 at Press Club of India, Delhi.
This is an important opportunity for journalists who want to understand the real situation of animals in India.
I urge media to attend, listen, and help amplify the voiceless.
Advocate Deepak Syal retweeted
This is what is happening to dogs in India today.
Hatred has been deliberately created against the voiceless, the vulnerable, and the defenceless dogs.

In Nagpur - Woman is flashed by a man and then chased.
She kept calling for help but no one came.
The attacker ran only when an indie dog barked at him.
Who’s the real threat - dogs or men?

Replying to @rapidoapp_
@rapidobikeapp are you doing fraud with your travellers. My sister booked a ride with you under ride RD17662421436055460 she sent him 1050 instead of 108 when called him back for return money he started abusing and saying this rickshaw and payment account belongs to someone else
This is not legal when someone is using someone else's vehicle and ID and using it for rapido and using abusive language instead of returning money. @DelhiPolice please investigate as this is a fraudulent activity going on in @rapidobikeapp this creates serious concern as anyone
Can commit crime and get away because vehicles and IDs belong to different people. @HMOIndia @CPDelhi @jagograhakjago @BJP4India @bjpdelhipardesh

This news highlights a positive and responsible stand by the High Court—calling for real, humane solutions to the street dog issue instead of silence or blame. By questioning inflated sterilisation numbers.

Meanwhile in Madhya Pradesh...
54 tigers dead within this year. The highest annual toll since Project Tiger began in 1973. Data shows most of them were killed in confirmed poaching incidents, involving electrocution through live wires and snaring methods.

Many media channels today are running hate mongering campaign against dogs, campaigns which will lead to many people causing cruelty towards animal. That isn't journalism, so we will show them & the world the reality they choose to ignore.
