Hip hop 50 year anniversary is an enormous benchmark no doubt. However it was really a celebration for corporations who wanted to be involved in hip hop culture, but involved from a safe distance. Not so much a celebration for the artists. Show me the health care plans that were granted to artists who needed it, financial resources presented to the architects who have gone without for so long, special resources made available to the families of iconic seminal emcees and producers. It was a stellar marketing plan, but that’s all it was.
