LSU president Wade Rousse joined the SEC presidents and chancellors call today, but only briefly, per ESPN sources. He explained to the participants that in light of the pending federal litigation, of which he and LSU are named defendants, that he was advised by council not to participate. SEC leaders did not take any action.

Back in the Valley this weekend

LSU president Wade Rousse sent a letter today to SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, obtained by ESPN by FOIA. He says the issue of adding NFL players is “moot.” LSU will also “not challenge, disrupt or seek to cancel or postpone” the special SEC Presidents/Chancellors call tomorrow.

LSU’s expulsion from the conference is no longer expected to be an agenda item during Thursday’s SEC presidents meeting, sources tell @YahooSports. As part of legal discussions, conference representatives have conveyed this to LSU officials and other league members.

The SEC/LSU federal court hearing scheduled for today has been continued, and it will be heard at a later date. The situation has generally de-escalated in the wake of LSU's decision to not roster NFL players. There are still issues, but the temperature of the whole situation has cooled.
