KC Luxury reportedly Arrives at Court in Ambulance today, Seeks Medical Bail Businessman and social media influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, reportedly arrived at the Federal High Court in Lagos in an ambulance on Friday, October 23, as his lawyer sought medical bail to enable him to receive specialised medical treatment. According to PUNCH, KC Luxury was receiving oxygen inside the ambulance and could not be brought into the courtroom due to his reported critical health condition. During the resumed hearing, a correctional officer informed the court that the defendant was seriously ill and had been hospitalised. The officer also called the nurse attending to him to provide information about his condition. The nurse, Bukki Yahya, of the Police Hospital, Falomo, Lagos, reportedly told Justice Musa Kakaki that KC Luxury could not enter the courtroom because he was receiving oxygen inside the ambulance. His lawyer is seeking his release on medical grounds to allow him to receive specialised treatment. KC Luxury is currently standing trial alongside two other defendants over allegations bordering on cocaine trafficking, the unlawful export of narcotics and money laundering. They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) alleged that the defendants were connected to an attempt to export 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine to the United Kingdom through a Lagos-based courier company. The allegations remain before the court. On October 2, the Federal High Court dismissed their initial bail applications, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences and the possibility that the defendants might abscond. The court subsequently ordered an accelerated hearing of the case. KC Luxury's legal team has also raised concerns about his health in previous court proceedings, with his lawyer alleging that his condition had deteriorated and that he required urgent medical attention. The outcome of the latest request for medical bail was not stated in the portion of the PUNCH report provided.

DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE POLICE ARREST THREE SUSPECTED FRAUDSTERS FOR IMPERSONATING TOP GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, DEFRAUDING COMMUNITY LEADER OF โ‚ฆ5.475 MILLION The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a fraud syndicate allegedly involved in impersonating high-ranking government officials to defraud unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of securing employment, political appointments and other government privileges. The suspects, identified as Aghogho Okpogbodu (51), Moses Exist (48) and Benjamin Owah (49), were arrested following an investigation by detectives attached to the Area Command, Effurun. Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects allegedly used SIM cards purportedly registered under the identities of prominent public officials, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Chief Hon. Onoriode Sunday, Director of Protocol to the Governor of Delta State; and Hon. Prince Johnson Erijo, identified as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Delta State, among others. They also allegedly exploited a caller-identification application on mobile phones, which displays names associated with incoming telephone numbers, to create the false impression that their calls originated from the officials being impersonated. In one of their alleged operations, the suspects impersonated the Director of Protocol to the Governor of Delta State and defrauded a community leader from Otu-Jeremi of โ‚ฆ5,475,000, under the false pretence of facilitating his appointment as President-General of the community. A search of the suspects' premises led to the recovery of seven (7) mobile phones, seventeen (17) SIM cards, twelve (12) ATM cards bearing different account holders' names, one (1) Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal and documents containing financial and identification information belonging to different individuals. Investigation is ongoing to identify other possible victims and accomplices. CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, therefore cautions members of the public against relying on caller-identification applications as proof of a caller's identity, particularly where financial demands or promises of government appointments are involved. He urged anyone who may have fallen victim to the suspects or similar fraudulent schemes to come forward with credible information to assist the investigation. The CP reaffirmed the Command's commitment to combating fraud and ensuring that those found culpable are brought to justice. SP.
