His camp (48 seats) only reaches a majority with the 19 seats held by Palestinian ("Arab") parties.

The most telling part of this specific description is Rhodesโ active separation of the self from complicity; genocide, starvation and slaughter are not only made banal policy decisions but his language also insinuates a bureaucratic passivity on his part and that of others - as well as a kind of circumstantial ignorance. This speaks to denialism, the disavowal of responsibility & the depth of dehumanization at the core of American foreign policy.
Are we really to believe that the people making decisions to, for instance, kill and starve more Palestinians are somehow more ignorant of whatโs actually happening than the citizens of this country? Rhodes speaks of information silos - but who creates those silos?
His characterization here, as itโs written, also sits uneasily alongside what weโve heard from former State Dept officials, who have detailed not only internal dissent over Gaza, in 2023 & 2024, but the deliberate decisions made to disregard it and continue the killing.
This from @brhodes is probably the best description of how the Democratic foreign policy elite has gone about the mundane perpetuation of US power in the post-Obama era.
