Colorado has collected over $3B in marijuana tax revenue to pave roads, build schools, rec centers and so much more, all while successfully cracking down on the underground market. Oh, and we didn't use $50M in taxpayer dollars to block access to freedom. But you do you.
Well, that has not been the experience in Colorado. The tax revenue from marijuana sales has fallen dramatically in recent years — largely because imposing taxes makes the black market marijuana more economical.
Hence, why states like CO have seen an increase in the black market, not an elimination of it.

Thrilled to see @POTUS follow Colorado’s lead - 2 years ago, I took bold action to clean up past inequities by pardoning convictions for Coloradans who possessed a small amount of cannabis. Today’s federal action will change people’s lives and not block their success.

Passing this critical legislation today would be a small part of a fitting memorial for a man whose efforts made it possible. This should be the year that we finish the pioneering work of his career, a fitting capstone to a lifetime of cannabis leadership, activism, and progress.

Steve's life work, leadership, and strategic brilliance were unmatched. As someone who has worked on cannabis reform longer than any politician in America, I know how deeply we are all indebted to Steve. We mourn his loss and extend our thoughts to his family and friends.

As we prepare to pass the SAFE Banking Act, I want to acknowledge the tragic passing of Steve Fox, a pioneering advocate and strategist in the marijuana cannabis legalization effort. We would not be here today without Steve and his amazing efforts.

Well this is awkward ...Colorado doesn’t border Mexico. Good thing Colorado now offers free full day kindergarten so our kids can learn basic geography

Thank you Ed Perlmutter for leading the charge to allow full access to banking for legal cannabis companies
The #SAFEBankingAct passed by a vote of 321 to 103 in the U.S. House! This is a huge milestone in reforming federal cannabis laws and reducing the public safety risk in communities across the country. #SAFEBanking #copolitics
