🍂 Beautiful fall walk along New York City’s High Line tonight. Once an elevated freight railroad built in the 1930s, it’s now a 1.45-mile park above Manhattan’s west side. Fall foliage, architecture, and Hudson River views. Have you walked the whole thing? – at New York, NY

Car centric apartment complexes in the suburbs are the worst type of housing ever devised. No walkability but also no land to yourself

The capacity to create great private space and great public space. That is what good perimeter block planning does -- and what all great cities need to be offering.
East Liberty’s Block B is still vacant (the remnant field after Penn Plaza was demolished). We’re testing a courtyard block on that ~4.2 acres. What could this site look like if developed with many mid-rise buildings, shared courts, a square open to Penn? A fine-grained courtyard block rather than another consolidated megaproject? ~455k gsf · ~33k nsf commercial · ~423 homes (study) Read all about it in the latest Substack (link below)

THOMAS MASSIE: “It’s ironic that we control the House, Senate, Supreme Court, & the White House -- and we're yelling 'election fraud'? We won all the damn elections. What are we doing with that? We’re bankrupting the country. We’re starting new wars. We’re violating the Constitution. We’re not cracking down on the fraud. The problem is not the elections. We won the damn elections. The problem is that we’re wasting the opportunity voters gave us."

Update from the reflecting pool! The pool has been drained, and there are no signs of the giant gash that Donald Trump has been lying about. No indications of major vandalism. Just a bad paint job. The only thing that’s been exposed is that Trump has been lying about this.

A problem I keep encountering on “urbanism social” is that many Americans have never lived in a true urban community, so they see no issue with this ⬇️. Or worse, they defend it tooth and nail. How do we show people the value and fulfillment of walkability, community, history?

This is incredibly embarrassing for Trump. Dr. Oz spoke at the state fair in DC today and said the crowd was huge… and then the camera panned showing empty fields.

Aunque parezca mentira, hubo un tiempo en que la gente también se oponía a peatonalizar esta zona del Sena. Ahora ya nadie quiere volver a lo que era. Hay un miedo al cambio que los alcaldes deben superar con valentía.

Bike lanes with trees instead of plastic bollards. Yes please! The council did a really nice job here. The street feels much nicer for pedestrians too, not just cyclists.

this was so sweet. Stephen Colbert just ended his final episode of The Late Show while singing "Hello, Goodbye" with Paul McCartney. his family and the show's crew then joined them on stage before Paul turned off the lights to the Ed Sullivan Theater

Midtown Atlanta, served by three heavy rail stations, is one of America's most successful examples of TOD. 25k people have moved into the district since 2000 w/ pop. density approaching New York City. Turns out Sun Belt cities can change fast with trains under tall buildings.
🏗️We put together this rendering to show the progress of Midtown's infill development since the start of the Midtown Improvement District and Blueprint Midtown. Today, more than 100,000 people spend time in this square mile of the city. Check out this new visual!
