Have you noticed some bumblebee pollen baskets are different colours? ๐งก๐โค
This has nothing to do with the bee species. Different plants have different coloured pollen! Pollen baskets can appear grey, white, orange & red depending on which flowers the bee has recently visited.

It's the turn of the #Farm today. Are you advertising your #Plant & #FarmMachinery to #criminals? Look at this typical farm where we've highlighted some good & bad points. Consider your own yard & how you can implement security solutions. Help shut the gate on #RuralCrime ๐

Most smallholders don't live off their smallholding (apart from eating really well)
So do you? And if not, do you think it would be possible to any time in the future?
Like in a parallel universe when people start to pay the real cost of food......

Calling farmers: what more could conservationists (such as myself) do to help you farm for wildlife? Do you want more help from us? What can we do better? I'm genuinely interested to hear your thoughts. @willpenrievans @herdyshepherd1 @LinesMartin @NFFNUK @FarmersOfTheUK

TBH I am making this up as I go... but the idea is farmers can either find a local friendly nature nerd friend to bounce ideas off
OR
post pictures of bits of their farm they could change and get free advice on what might be valuable for nature

Lovely bubbly group from @DevSmallholders for todayโs LAND MANAGEMENT course. Did things a bit backwards to avoid the rain; Mr D demonstrated various machinery in the am & we finished with discussing wildflower meadow creation & looking at river life, even catching a bullhead

Itโs been raining (much needed) so Iโve been doing admin, show applications & getting ready for tonightโs @DevSmallholders Sheep Chat visit, & hoping the rain is finished by then. Need to move ewes & lambs about so they are closer to view, nothing for it, Iโve got to get wet!
