I'm leaving the blue birb app, for the obvious reason. Au revoir! 🌊✨
I've only been a dev for about a year but I keep coming across FE issues in iOS that make no sense. Animations that require a minus 3 second delay so that they don't end oddly abruptly. Safar browser handling transparency as a shade of black rather than true opacity. Janky stuff. – at Manchester, England

Delighted to say that I'm still loving my job. Genuinely excited about continuing projects. Best move ever etc. etc. πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»πŸ’– – at Manchester, England

Popped back on FB (first time in months) & instantly popped back off. It's an advertising nightmare. It is eating itself. – at Manchester, England

Trending and worth repeating: Don't do unpaid work. Especially for an employer who'll make money from your unpaid labour. – at Manchester, England

I was the only person who refused to do it. My colleagues felt this was unfair. And it was. But that wasn't my responsibility. I wasn't the entity exploiting them. – at Manchester, England

There are other employers. There are other fields. It takes work to get out but the reward is being respected as a person, being paid fairly for your work, and work-life balance. Compared to the cost of unpaid labour (in cash, time and dignity) it's a no-brainer. – at Manchester, England
On Monday, if you told me I'd be coming into the office voluntarily by the end of the week I would've laughed. Yet here I am again @__@" – at Manchester, England

Fixed up my accelerometer demos: πŸ”΅ Dot Demo: Lay your phone flat. Tilt to roll the marble across the surface. βš–οΈ Tilt Demo: Hold your phone upright. Tilt to move the block. πŸ“±βœ¨Mobile, cross-OS, cross-browser devarrowsmith.github.io/acce… – at Manchester, England
My company got a co-working space in Manchester. Today's gona be my first day working in central MCR! πŸ’– – at Manchester, England

Even when doing development tasks that I've done 100 times before I'm occasionally surprised, shocked even, when stuff works – at Manchester, England

Messy demo of tilt controls in mobile browsers. Should work on mobile devices with accelerometers running Android or iOS, in Chrome, Safari, Edge & Firefox. iOS users will need to click the permissions button before it'll work: devarrowsmith.github.io/acce… – at Manchester, England

The repo is a mess, sorry about it. It was a messy late night dive πŸ˜… If you try this and it doesn't work plx let me know! πŸ’– – at Manchester, England

Today I've been learning about iOS restrictions on browser access to mobile accelerometer data, eg. for tilt controls in browser-based games. Android works out of the box; iOS has a few tricksy hoops! πŸ‘‡βœ¨ – at Manchester, England

iOS 13 release notes specify the changes, see Security and Privacy: developer.apple.com/document… – at Manchester, England

Now, after hours of work, I can finally implement the tilt controls in iOS that took me ~15min to build in Android - although it'll have to be in a deployed repo rather than a succinct codepen 🫠 – at Manchester, England
