Xcode 27.2's Device Hub finally does multi-touch. Through Sidecar or a MacBook with Touch, touches now reach the device, so pinch and rotate work. Not having it to begin with was a pain. Also new: simulator Slow Motion Animation and a JSON project format (.xcproj).

Style native controls, don't rebuild them. ComingUp's date sheet is a plain SwiftUI DatePicker, .graphical, tinted in the event's colour. VoiceOver reads every day as a full date, like "Monday 2 November", and it got the new OS look without me touching it. #SwiftUI #iOSDev

I built a Christmas card for the top of ComingUp's event list. Then I took it out. Ignore it and it sits there for weeks, pushing your own next event down. What replaced it: name an event Christmas and ComingUp fills in the date. Yes, it's the 25th.

Supporting an older iOS and want a newer SwiftUI modifier? Wrap it once, not at every call site. ComingUp has a softScrollingEdges(for:) extension that applies scrollEdgeEffectStyle on iOS 26 and does nothing before. No #available in the views. #SwiftUI
Swift code. A View extension softScrollingEdges(for:) applies scrollEdgeEffectStyle(.soft) on iOS 26 and later, and returns the view unchanged otherwise.

Christmas is 54 days away, so ComingUp now has snow ❄️ 5.7.0 adds Home themes. Christmas is free, Confetti and Fireworks are on Plus. It sits behind your tickets and stops for Reduce Motion and Low Power Mode. apps.apple.com/gb/app/coming…

Decorative motion should stop for three things: Reduce Motion, Low Power Mode and a phone that's running hot. ComingUp's Home themes check all three. If any says no, the snow freezes on a still frame. No slowed-down version. The whole check:
Swift code. A struct FestiveMotionPolicy with a function permitsDevice that returns true only when reduceMotion is false, lowPowerMode is false and thermalState is nominal or fair.

Every ComingUp TikTok I've posted says what the app does. Most got a few hundred views at best. When I asked how you market your app, one reply said copy TikToks that got 2x their usual views for apps like mine. Two more said check where your downloads actually come from before guessing. So I tried a story instead of a feature list for ComingUp. Made it with Claude, and it went up on TikTok last night. #buildinpublic #indiedev

Halloween's in 3 days. The Halloween pattern in ComingUp is free, and the ticket can be any colour you like. What's the next thing you're counting down to? apps.apple.com/gb/app/coming…

iPhone Duo is out today, and ComingUp is ready for it 🎉 Closed, your countdowns are on the outer display. Open it and the timeline and event sit side by side. Half-fold it and it's a countdown clock for your desk. apps.apple.com/app/id6473546… #iPhoneDuo
